|
|
I have searched without success.......
I need to replace the fork seals in the K1100. I ordered the seals from motoworks and just want to confirm.
The seals have one side that is closed and flat, and one side that is cupped (i.e. it would look like a "U" if you were to cut it vertically_.
So, which way is up?
I would guess that the cupped side should be down, otherwise it would collect dust and water etc. (but then maybe it is supposed to ? )
But then maybe the flat side should be down, so it rests on the washer below the seals?
I could just put them in the same way as the existing ones, but they may not be in correctly (and hence - leaked).
(and don't worry - I have gaiters on the forks).
Any help would be appreciated. _________________ '08 K1200GT

Thanks Inge,
and on a similar note - The washer below the seal.......
Should it be higher in the middle of the washer or higher at the edges?
i.e. which way around shoud it be.
(I remember a previous mail - it could have been you - where it was stated that if the washer was put in upside down it could damage the seal). _________________ '08 K1200GT
