Hello all..

I've seen some very nice cut-away engine illustration drawings on line of the K75 engines, but I have yet to come across a similar cut-away drawing of the 4-Valve K1100 engine. Does anyone know of one or have a link to such an illustration that is down-loadable ??

Best regards all.......// Ernie-NH

Good morning all...

This site http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/pressreleases.htm has some great data and illustrations, engines, trannis, ABS etc for all you K75, K100 and "R" bike owners, but I haven't found a similar set of illustrations for the K1100 4 valve engine. I'll keep looking in case anyone else is interested. and post what I find here.

Regards all.....// Ernie-NH

Ernie, just right click on the photo and click "save picture as". It's already a .jpg.

Ernie, As Jim said, just grab it from the screen. It is shown actual size, it's not a very large picture. That's probably how I got it, off of some other web site.

Hi Jim....

Sure on a normal PC with Windows it'll work that way to capture images. BUT on a MAC it doesn't, it just sees it as a text character and not an image. MAC is OK but give me a PC ( despite the problems ) any day !

Best regards..........// Ernie-NH

Ernie - just control click (hold the control key down and click the mouse - with the cursor on the pic) or right click on the pic (if you have a right clickable mouse) - you'll get a dialogue box with all the options - view, save, send - whatever you want to do with it...

n00b here, & if I haven't adequately searched I'll do a long self-loather's ride of redemption on a buddy's ape-hanging, hard-tailed Harley ...

Has anybody ever seen dimensioned line drawings of the K1100RS? Details of the engine are what I'm most interested in, & then also the frame but a well-done, scalable 3-view could serve my purpose.

I'm not really ready to talk about why, but I have need of the details on the engine's attachment to the frame, the position of the engine within the frame, dimensions of the engine, etc.

Thanks in advance for tips or links - JED

Try contacting Larry at RomeStant Engineering and Design. He's produced 3D CAD libraries for the Kbike. Shown on this page are some of his models:
http://specialks.net/models/cad/
Since he's done extensive frame redesign, he might have what you're after.

Ok, I asked because aside from the usual social media suspects (which don't interest me any more than ape-hanging-hardtails do), I found one point of contact on his site - a phone number for inquiries about bike builds.

You're right, he's clearly documented a number of K-bike models in detail, but I'll move forward with a tear-down & my own measurements & drawings before I call & start with "no, I'm not using your number for the purpose posted".

He seems like an interesting guy. I'm not especially into the retro thing, but from what's available on his site his engineering, design & executions are flawless. Very respectable.

Thanks much - I'll be looking for a mutually appropriate method of contact.

Any more inputs on this?

This will be handy information for anybody interested in any degree of custom work, or for that matter just keeping them on the road. The youngest of what for BMW was a short run of K1100s are about to turn 20. I also have an '89 e30 (nicely flawless, tyvm), & even that highly regarded, produced-in-high-volumes car is getting harder to find parts for.

Thanks again - JED
