Stuck in Staunton with a busted trailer wheel bearing until Steve and a friend of his comes to get me. They'll load this trailer on another one, Alex will drive the Subie & I'll ride the bike home. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Bummer, Gwen... that's exactly why I didn't trailer the bike down - haven't had the bearings serviced for about 4 years - wasn't sure the trailer would make it... Guess I'll have to pull my act together and service the bearings myself - the camper/trailer place in Merrifield is gone - I'd have to go to Manassas.
Hope it didn't tear your axle up!
Were you off the interstate? I didn't see you on the side of the road - but I'll admit to being half asleep...
Hope you made it home OK.
Thanks for all the cooking you did - you spend way too much time in that kitchen, though... You're supposed to be out at the campfire telling lies or out riding...

Home safe.
Made good time rolling out at 7 on the dot and home in WI at 5:30, 774 miles.
Couple of new things today.
Saw many dead deer and more live ones in West Virginia.
Had a bug hit me was so big I saw it coming but got clobbered a second later. 77 MPH and I had to pull over cause it smeared up one half of my face shield.
WTF is that big and flys in Ohio?
No it was not a bird, that happened just outside Dayton. Saw a quick flash of very bright red, Cardinal I think, then WHAM!! It felt like someone punched the top of my helmet. Hurt me neck a little and it's stiff now. Had to pull over to readjust my helmet, but no damage.
Same Ol crazy @$$ traffic on 65 in IL. but for a change no rain to HM or on the way home.
Great seeing everyone, FNG Chuck really did a lot on his first year. Big kudos to him for all that food and everything
So many thanks for all Gwen does for us, makes it feel just like home. Actually better.
Thanks to Jim for always reserving the park.
Was nice to meet Ted too!
So many thoughts, but I'll close.
Need sleep.
The best to everyone! _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

We rolled in about 10:15 Iowa time, got the bike unloaded and in the garage, the back of the truck emptied and parked just in time for the rain to start..........maybe it will wash some of the bugs off of the front of the truck........ I can only hope.
As usual, another wonderful weekend with friends-- old and new. We both enjoyed it very much and looking to next year as well.
More later.

Didn't post last night- spent an hour catching Cathy up on HM news.
Just over 15 hours drive time but just sat back and aimed the truck north.
BTW, the route 91 gravel ride was a walk in the park compared to rolling a pickup and trailer through Newark airport and the GW bridge on a Sunday afternoon. But it was a huge reminder why we escaped from NYC years ago.
Thanks to everyone for a fun time and great rides.
OTG, it was an entertaining and enlightening voyage. When you were texting someone and asked me how to spell "debauchery" I hope I gave you the right answer. I also hope that HM was everything and nothing like what you were expecting.
Thanks again to everyone!! _________________ John & Cathy

Shogs,
You need more than a Mod- you need the super powers of an admin- the ones that are able to leap tall K bikes in a single bound.....Haha.
Sorry to hear about your trailer hub problem. Glad mine stayed together after the nasty beating it took going through NYC and NJ.
Thanks for all your work.

Just in case anyone wants to follow up on the "I need an RTP" crowd...
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Motorcycles-/6024/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=bmw+rtp&_vxp=mtr
Someone has two different R1150 RTP's in CA. If Lynn isn't going to ride behind me anyway.....
Gwen, check out how they did the front crash bars on these, one big loop on each side that hits the upper and lower mount. There are a set of crash bars like this on eBay as well.
Ok gang, road trip to CA? _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

How can one trip be so enthralling, titillating and confounding at the same time?
Was fantastic to see some old friends and make some new ones.
Glad everyone got home safe.
Big ups to John, who made it all possible for me. My friend, mentor, psychologist and pit crew/support.

Hello all K11OGers...
Just got back yesterday eve from HMSP-VIII... and despite being late, in a truck, and no bike in tow... it really was GREAT to see all of you again, and to talk about all of the "wacky" things that most of us seem to do ! The added bonus of having TED there with us this year was something I hope he gets to repeat next year and the all the years thereafter !! I also want to thank Gwen and Jim once again for their unselfish efforts to help all of us, year after year...and this year the input from our newest K11OGer... Chuck from Aiken ... was way beyond super !!... and on a personal note, I want to thank our V-Strom buddy "Stoked Steve" for giving up his lower bunk to this broken down 'old fart' from NH ! ( it sure made a difference !! )
Hopefully after 30 June I'll be back on 2-wheels... and even IF the "medical" verdict is no-more riding... There are two explicitly obscene words I have for the doctors, as I start my "K", twist the throttle and leave them far behind.. So see all of you next year for absolute certain, if not before !!
Very best to all of you ( even if you weren't there )... Ride safe !!
Ernie in NH
ps: Gwen... sorry to say, but "shop whore" carries a lot more excitement and allusion with it than "biscuit fluffer" !!
