I've never needed to buy a replacement motorcycle battery before. Yesterday, there wasn't enough voltage to turn the bike over and I've had the same battery for 4 years. I could just charge it, but I think it's time for a replacement.
Most of my rides are 20 minutes or so.

I was going to get the battery below from Batteries Plus, but if there is some other type I should consider, please let me know.

Just a thought, since my bike was made in 1993 battery technology has changed a bit.

I like AGM batteries since they do handle vibration, heat, and leans angles better than the lead acid ones from the 90's.

Batteries plus has a decent return policy and warranty on their stuff. My local store has been helpful finding replacement batteries for things that are not suppossed to be repaired by consumers.

But, I'd check the battery connections and do a nice long trickle charge first to see if it is really bad. If in doubt, replace it, you don't want to try to push start one of these.

Hey man, nice to see the old bike in the pictures section.

Odyessy PC680 and keep it on a Battery Tender. Should last 5-6 years.

I replaced that battery about 5 years ago now, so that's about right.

I guarantee that will fix the ABS issue.

I have a Westco 12V20P which I fitted over 8 years ago now into the RS. It's just begining to show signs of needing replacement so I will get the same again. It's been 100% reliable never failing to start the bike first time and no ABS issues.

+1
I've used this one in both my bikes. Have had good life with them, 6+ years.

I went with the battery I linked to above. It turns out that I can get a discount through work so it was $85. The Odyessy was $50 more. If I get 3 1/2 years out of it, I should come out ahead. Thanks for the input.

Part two. I got the Odyessy PC680. The stock battery was taller and I couldn't see a way for the coolant bottle to stay in place. It was $20 more but I'm back on the road.

About 10 miles. I won't have time to look at the codes until late next week. Sad

Some years ago, I couldn't purchase the stock BMW battery, which I liked. The Westco was taller, so I cut the two long battery hold down screws and welded in about a 1/2". Haven't had good luck with Westco. Last one in LT and FJR lasted about 18 mos. here in the FL. heat.
