I love the K1100RS but am finding the riding position hard on my ageing back.
I'm used to a more upright riding position,
Yes, OK, I should have gone for an LT, but an RS came up in such nice condition, I'd have been mad to let it go.
I thought I'd just get used to it.
So I'm sure you can see where this is going.
Has anyone converted the RS to LT bars, and if so were there any issues.
I can see no reason why it wouldn't work other than possibly bar / fairing clearance.
Would love to hear from anyone with any experience of this.
Thanks.

Have you thought about a set of "bar backs" using your RS bars?

They say, the clutch cable for an LT is longer than an RS. I would think there would be enough slack on wiring and front brake should be fine.

I believe the brake line is longer too. You may want to also check the throttle cable and wires for switches.

Many thanks for the useful tips.
I'm leaning towards the LT set up at the moment, as it looks like the most straightforward conversion, and parts are readily available second hand.
I think that this guy may agree.
Shocked

I'm in the process of doing this now, and I'll post more details when I'm done. But to sum up, you *have* to change:

-handlebars (duh)
-choke cable
-throttle cable
-clutch cable
-brake M/C line

You probably should change
handlebar mounts
RS Cover to LT cover. For reasons I still don't fathom I needed to trim the front of this to fit the RS, but it wasnt hard.

all the electronic cabling is long enough.

Here's a link to the LT handlebars:

..and the RS ones:

Just wondering has anyone tried bar backs or risers on the LT? It's not too bad as is but would be a bit more comfortable with my arthritis if they were a bit higher and closer.

Greetings,
I know this seems to be the opposite way to the majority. Has anyone changed from LT to RS bars and are there any issues with the cables etc being a little too long?
Also can I just strip all the parts including the heated grips off the LT bars and put them onto a set of RS bars?
Many thanks
