Before you jump to infrequently failing & complex you are on the right track to cover the routine first. You do not say anything about the maintenance history which is an important puzzle piece. Btw hall unit is the cam position _________________ Thanks,

You may want to check the ignition switch.
Bike on center stand, bike running, turn handle bar lock to lock (right to left) if it dies or sputters, may need to get a new bottom of switch wire connection.
I forget what part # it is in parts fish, someone may chime in with that!

Side stand switch also comes to mind, dirty kill switch, dirty ground connections, etc......
When this happens, does it seem like a complete engine cut out, or more like it is starving---but still trying to run.
The symptoms of the ign switch or side stand switch would be more of a complete motor(and gauges) cut out. _________________ Ride safe.

Hard to say. I tried to watch the tach and it doesnt seem to drop. I don't think that the guages or lights go dim. Its a big lurch though. .my thoughts are if it was one carb it wouldn't be as bad. Feels like a wire shorting somewhere thanks for the replies time to strip some Tupper ware |

Could also be dirt contacts in the Ignition Switch.....
You can clean it by this article:
http://www.eilenberger.net/K75S/IgnitionSwitch/
The section at the end talks about a bit of grease....
I don't know if this is a good idea, as in another forum, some knowledgable people say this increases the arcing and burning, one suggested to use Krytox...
This may or may not be your issue, but for what you describe, it solved mine on a K100.... Which is a bit different electrically in the ignition department I believe.. |

Good morning all….
Going back to this OCtober thread, i just gotta ask "Strip4" in Fla if this problem has been resolved and just what the problem turned out to be. I ask because just before I put my "K" up for its long New England Winter Nap, I experienced the same symptoms during my last 2014 ride. While it could be any one of numerous electrical connections relating to the 'negative' side of the battery, in my case it turned out to be that the (-) battery post screw had become loose allowing the cables (2) to flutter a bit with road vibrations. Did you check your battery connections first ??
Best regards,,ride safe,, AND a very happy holiday season to all,,,
