Any chance the rotors could be reversed so you don't have to run a jack shaft?

Won't work Jeff - it's the direction of the flow that is the issue. There are Eaton blowers with integral gears to reverse the direction - but not suitable for this application.

Using a jackshaft is quite common on blower applications where that is necessary. MY problem is lack of workshop / machining facilities - so everything has to be done by pals - or paid for. Either way - that slows the project down somewhat !

That said, this is for the "Mk2" engine sat under the bench, and I'm really in no particular rush as the engine currently in the bike is a sweet low mileage unit.

Gotcha, didn't know if you could do an endo on em or not.

Preliminary checks show it's definitely a viable project.
Using a jackshaft also allows for shorter drive belts [ Gilmer type ] and easier tensioning, but additionally gives me extra scope for altering the blower ratio.

My 1100 bottom end is GTG, so at some stage I just need to get the 8V head mounted up. I also have a complete spare "mule" engine frame assembly to mock up the blower properly. However, that's some time away - back to getting the current configuration completed! Rolling Eyes

Got my K1100 front forks back at the weekend so I can have a trial fit of the newly reamered out K100 top yoke. Then it's decision time before I make the swap over - Clip-Ons or Renthals ???

I'm clearing some space in my garage - KZ750 Flat Tracker and Yamaha TR1 Cafe Racer parts off for powder coating which will clear my bike ramp and allow me to get the Kay back from my pal's and start the final strip down / detail / paint.

I fired the bike up last week - first time in 18 months - went second turn of the key - well chuffed.

There's a large oil leak occured since it's been standing - looks like it's coming from the gearbox area - I'm suspecting the clutch push rod seal ? There were no leaks before it was laid up.

Aaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh - so, went to fit up my newly reamered K100 top yokes only to find that they are 5 mm or so narrower across the stanchions than the K1100. That'll teach me not to check thoroughly ! Embarassed

SO, back to plan A. The K1100 top yokes are off to the machine shop tomorrow to have the ignition barrel plinth and other squitter removed and tidied up.

Then .................... OK, who hid my one off front wheel spindle ?? After 3 days of searching the garage, my shed and other likely places, my Wife tells me she "put it in the sideboard drawer for safe keeping ". Rolling Eyes

24 hrs service from the machine shop - top man. Exactly the look I wanted. The top yoke is now back and fitted up - some progress at least

Here it is ........... I'll do final fettling and paint the complete front end ready for the swap over when the Fighter comes back from storage after Christmas.
