|
|
Greetings,
I'm getting the 7 flashes on the testing LED to indicate a failure in the control unit. Before I sink into the pit of doom and despondency, is there anything that can cause this fault code which doesn't mean it's the bin for the control unit?
Many thanks
Simon |

| Did try but it didn't seem to reset. Looking at the various posts resetting seems to be an issue in itself. It's currently tipping with rain, no change there, so I'll give it a further try in the morning. Does this sometime sort the issue then? |

How old/good is your battery? A slowly dying battery can cause ABS faults. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

| Brand new battery which is well charged. The fault occurred the other evening. Rode the bike into work no problem, nipped down to the chippy no problem, jumped back on and had the flashing lights of doom! |

Simon,
Unfortunately, if you are looking for logic from a K11 ABS, you ARE going to be disappointed.
These things will throw faults for absolutely no reason.
Try several resets. I have had to do 6-10 resets before it cleared.
On one occasion it would not reset no matter what I did. I placed tape over the flashing lights because I didn't want to see it. A month or so later I happened to look at the gauges from an angle and saw that the lights were out- it had reset itself.
Good luck with yours.

I recommend a ceremony using the blood of a sacrificed live chicken or virgin and candles, lots of candles. Some of that ABS stuff is Voodoo.

What he said. I was riding my 94 RS at a constant 35 MPH one day on a dry flat street. All of the sudden the ABS lights start flashing. Stop at a stop light three blocks later. They go off. Never happened since. Absolutely no logic behind it. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Well, I considered the voodoo angle but I'm just no good at dancing. But, as it happens it is a day for miracles, woke this morning to blue skies and a big yellow ball in the sky, after much discussion decided it was the sun.
Approached the bike, spoke nicely and tried the reset! Hey presto normal operation. Started her up and all still good. Rode down the drive and self check went okay and everything is working again.
Thanks chaps for your time and advice, let's hope I don't see the lights of doom again. |
