Rancho 1952 shock boots fit perfectly.
O'Reilly Autoparts carries them

The best $8 investment I ever made.

Thank you for your Information. I don't have that chain in NY
so I ordered the Gators on line. I also brought a pair for my son's 86
R80rt as he has the up-dated forks also

Thanks again Bob D

When I worked at an old (now defunct) BMW dealer we used a stock boot. I don't remember which model they where from, but they had a vent hole in the top collar of the boot. In this hole you placed a rolled pin. This roll pin was about twice as long as the width of the top collar of the boot, so the pin filled the hole and extended above the collar.
The extended portion of the pin went between the split of the lower fork yoke.
The purpose of the hole and roll pin was to let air in and out of the boot during suspension travel.
The movement of the air throught the pin/ split caused a poor whistling sound.
I mention this because I wonder if there is any allowance for the air to exchange through the Rancho boot.
How do you affix the ends of the boot?
thanks

I've got 2 sets of the Rancho boots on my LT's.

I cut one end of the boot off at the 1st flex ring for the upper end. I also used a leather punch for a vent hole for air exchange.
The bottom end of the boot fits over the top of the fork lower stanchion very snug. Some use a black zip tie on the lower as well.
It may not look like a "show" quality boot for use, but for me it will keep my forks clean and that's all I need.
