So I did the vent mod by capping off the vapor hose (runs to the crankcase) and running the line down by the right foot peg alongside the rain drain hose. I also performed a routine flapperectomy. I did this because I was getting massive tank suck on hot days, and experiencing the stall at idle problem as well.
So despite these measures I still got a big suction upon opening the gas cap. I'll take it out in a bit (and it's HOT in Boulder right now) and see if I'm stalling at idle. It's my understanding that stalling at idle is caused by suction in the tank...or is it an over-rich fuel mixture, as stated in the tech update I used (thanks Rich!)?

Welcome Blake.
Could it be that the vent line is clogged, either the hose or the steel line inside the tank?
If I remember right it is a pretty small tube inside the tank, it would not take much to plug it up...

Blake,
Welcome to K11OG!
Put a piece of tubing on the nipples one at a time) under the tank and blow through it. One is the rain drain, the other is the tank vent. If I recall correctly, you should be able to blow through both - I don't remember which is which - but you'll find out.
If you get the air accumulator, you only need one hose running down from the tank.

I no longer suck. New tubing was kinked. Now I'm getting an occasional drop or two of fuel out the drain, no pressure in the tank, and no stall at idle on hot days (like today on the Front Range in Colorado: over 90).
Thanks for the replies!
