Once again i have a sick K1100 RS 1993 flavour.
The engine is hesitant and "fluffy" but still came back from Amsterdam through Belgium and France to the UK maintaining 120 mph no problem.
it has lost loads of power and urge.
It feels like an electronic issue as changed the fuel filter on the road with no change.
So i could do with one of those not so expensive diagnostic tools on ebay but which one?
could anyone suggest one that works please.

Not sure the diagnostic tools would help 100% solve your problem. I'm not saying the it can't help either.
The "diagnostics" are limited to only reading a registered error code, and there aren't many. They won't provide and running engine information if that's what you are looking for.

Read this thread, it might help describe the limits of the motronic diagnostics.

If your are not afraid of working with small electrical components you can build your own. The "tool" is nothing more than an overpriced LED, and ground. It's been a while but I build my own.

All you really need to read the fault codes is a 12Vdc LED, and some wire and alligator clip leads.

Can't be that bad if you got 120 MPH, surprised you didn't get caught 60 ish MPH (100 / 110 Kph) max IIRC on Belgian Motorways.
Back to topic, Plugs, HT leads, Coils. Crushed tank vent pipe? Did you put any 10% Ethanol petrol (gas) in it? Which is prevalent in France, not compatible with old fuel pipes. Or any vehicle more than 4 years old.
I agree with Scott, A diagnostic tool won't help & there's nowhere to plug it.

+1

Start describing the symptoms, runs well at idle or not, power loss at all revs or not, millage, ...
Are the spark plugs OK? How about throttle sync?
