Home safe and sound. Picked up the rain about 40 miles out of Marion and was in it the rest of the way. Rain and wind really picked up after I turned South on I-26. Worst part was crossing the mountains at the Tennessee / NC state line. I got the trifecta there rain, wind and poor visibility. Just kept telling myself that some of you other folks had it worse. Thanks for a great week, ya'll are a special bunch!

I had a good travel day yesterday. Had light shower at the KT/IN border, then again light on/off showers across Ill.
No torrential downpours, or nasty wind. I was able to avoid it. A local HD friend of mine is on his way down to SC and went thru the worst of it yesterday and is still waiting it out today in Lexington Ky....
Roads were decent and mostly dry, temps were above 45 when I hit Iowa so I kept rolling to home sweet home. Got in around midnight Iowa time.
925 miles and 14hrs + saddle time.
Only had slow downs with road construction on the 465 around Indianapolis. That took about an extra 45minutes at walking speed. Glad for a fan switch........ _________________ Ride safe.

Hey folks, I'm the big tall doofus who came in to pick up the pizza at the Tuscan in Marion Sat. night. Cool to see all those bricks lined up outside. Like I said, I'm right around the corner from HMSP; we've got a 35-acre farm with horses, goats, cows, etc. and a shooting range and kegerator. Plus my buddy who rides a K1200RS is co-owner of Wolf Hills Brewing Co. in Abingdon. I'll have to catch up w/y'all next year; by then I'll actually have some riding skills! _________________ No motorcycles, just bicycles & a canoe |

I left and got home yesterday to avoid the rain and to have a day to RR before the grind starts again.
My ride was only 360 miles, 6.5 hours, dry roads, a bit of wind, but overall not bad. Felt good to be back in my bed, those upper bunks are tight!
As usual, a BIG thanks to Jim for putting it together (again) and to Gwen for her great cooking, stories and wisdom. Thanks to everyone else for some good laughs, incredible riding and good times.
Gwen I'll PM you about what I owe for the food tab.
I'll post some pics up when a pic thread gets started, in the meantime a little teaser...

Welcome to the Group Dave.
I read your profile and wondered "boy, from Marion VA, did he see our group this weekend?"
You missed me Sat night as I was on my way back to Iowa to avoid the weather front, but I'm looking forward to next year already. _________________ Ride safe.

Absolutely! Welcome, Dave! It was good (and always is) to meet a fellow rider.
I got home about 1:30 this afternoon. Although the ride was alittle chilly the first couple hours, I encountered no rain at all.
What a great bunch of people! Thanks to everyone at H.M.S.P. VI for making me feel welcome. Looking forward to VII!

Welcome Big Dave, looking forward to seeing you next year.
I made it home but had to call in the troops. Bike quit running 30 miles south of Indianapolis. Pushed it 1/4 mile down the fast lane shoulder on I-65 to get under an overpass and called tow truck.
Hardest part was calling the wife. Two and a half hour drive for her into unfamiliar area to BMW dealer.
Great to see everyone. For me it gets better every year. Thanks everyone. _________________ '93 K1100LT

Welcome, Dave - good to meet you - and hope to see you in just under a year.
There is some Oilhead knowledge here - some of the brick riders on the forum either have or had an Oilhead. _________________ Jim

Sorry to hear about your problem Bob. I guess that stall at the lodge was more than bad gas. Bad way to end a fun week. Keep us posted on the fix. _________________ 1995 K1100 LT

Made it home for dinner.
722.4 miles / 11:26 moving time. 44 min stopped time. Mostly in traffic. Moving average speed of 63.2, Max speed of 92
I changed my mind leaving and swung South on 81 then West, shorter route. So of course I ran into, across and up in the rain. Heavy rain on 64 and 65 in Kentucky. Brutal wind as well.
Sorry I bailed early, just felt the need to roll & roll hard. It was great seeing you all again, wonderful rides.
Bob, I am so sorry for your troubles and feel badly I did not ride with you as you are right on my way. Glad you are safe now.
To whomever got stuck cleaning up stuff yesterday morning, a big BIG THANK YOU!!! I hope you took what ever you wanted and just discarded the rest, but it is so very much appreciated. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

That sucks, Bob. That kinda stuff sure can ruin a nice ride in a hurry. Please let us know what you find out. It was great to meet you. _________________ Scot

Hot DAMN!
Look who showed up!
Welcome Big Dave! Glad you joined this little crazy bunch.
Oh HECK yeah, booze, bikes and dancing! What can possibly go wrong?
Count me IN.
In other news, I didn't go straight home. I went south to visit an old friend, spent the night there and come home today.
I have some good stories to share, but Steve just got home too so I'll be back later.
It just keeps getter better every year, doesn't it!
Love ya all,
Gwen
