OK I'll warn you now, it ain't pretty, but against BMW service's cost for doing it, or two days stripping and rebuilding after, it works for me...

Solvent cleaners, carb (xylene) and brake (mixture) through all 3 holes not just this one, seemed to get things moving again! The 'cover' (disc with JB weld) is hidden under the air-cleaner too! _________________ Southern Hampshire, England.

Nice fix, instead of JB weld, I would have selected the hole saw size to match a blind grommet (bung). How did you keep the swarf out of the crankcase? _________________ Regards Tim,

Few blind grommets are big enough and the casings walls are ~4-5mm thick, the final result has to be oil tight as well, so a disc with JB was the easiest and most effective option. As for keeping the swarf out, vac. cleaner next to the saw, followed by an oil change after 10 min's fast tick over, not that there was anything in the oil. _________________ Southern Hampshire, England.

I just finished tearing mine down for the same reason, mine was full of some rtv sealant and lots of carbon flakes. Had no other issues bearings were clean and showed very little wear. Overall I am glad I tore it down cause my transmission clutch plate was on the verge of shearing all the rivets. Now its just down to waiting for replacement parts and reassembly. _________________ 95 K1100LT Current ride

Having done the clutch last September I really didn't want to tear it down again, but if I ever have another that needs a clutch I'll do the full monty on it. The K1200 might be nice one day but they hold their price too well, even ex-police one's, and after this ex-plod K1100 I won't buy another one from them! _________________ Southern Hampshire, England.
