I made this yesterday. It's a rapid access keyed knob. It stays there all the time and all I have to do is turn it to open the tank.
No more having to remove the key from the ignition every time I fill up.

Gwen,
How does the tankbag sit?
I have enough problems keeping my (non-BMW) bag centered on the tank. Maybe that's the problem.

Don't know yet, but currently the need for fast access exceeds tank bag issues.
I'll be combining Hungree Dungee with an Iron Butt ride that only 19 people and no women have ever completed.
The Ride is called Sunrise to Sunset Insanity and is from Eastport, MA to La Push, WA in <72 hours.
I'll be combining that IBA ride with a Saddle Sore Gold which is 2000 miles < 36 hours, only 39 people have completed that.
That means I'll be riding from Eastport to Fargo, ND before calling it a days ride, sleeping 8 hours then riding from Fargo to La Push before calling it a days ride. Basically, cross country in just two stages.
Also finished with my new switch control panel. It will allow for independant control of the PIAA's (as a pair) and each of the CREE 3000 lumen AUX lights plus anthing else I want to link to there.

One of my projects today...
New gauges for the 1996 K1100RS are no longer available.
This works fine, but it looks bad.
So I made a lens for it.
This is the first time I've ever done anything like this.
Pulled it apart.
Got a free "drop" from Lowes.
I shaped it a dermal then 200 grit followed by 600 grit sandpaper.
Put it back together.
Because the "drop" was 1/16" thicker, it wouldn't close as tightly as I wanted, so I first ran a bead of gel-super glue around it, then nested in a this gasket, then ran another bead of gel-super glue.
All done.

Looks awesome. Was the corrosion (or whatever) on the outside surface? I wonder if you could have just sanded and polished the original.

I thought the same thing but the exterior surface was smooth.
After I got it out I found it had delaminated.
I'll see if I can post a pic this week.

Somewhere between 'hold my beer and watch this' and "just shoot up here amongst us, one of us needs some relief"...
Yesterday I was tormented to the point of nausea and trembling hands.
I'm no stranger to pain.
However, I have a boil on my left inner thigh 3-4 cm across and 4 days of moist heat hasn't brought to a head.
I called the Doctor on New Years Eve but they were closing early and couldn't see me.
He called in an antibiotic which I'm taking.
There was no way I was going to the ER where I work just because I don't want my co-workers seeing that part of me.
So I had some Hibiclens, a mirror and a #15 blade.
I knew it was gonna hurt but I had to get some relief.
I pushed the entire length of the blade in three times and on the last pass I made a 1/2 cm long opening.
Lots of blood but no pus. I'm sure I punchtured the boil sack because I felt the resistance followed by the 'pop' as the blade passed through.
It feels a LOT better now.
Today (1/2/13) I was able to see my regular doctor for f/u.
They said I had opened it up well enough that they didn't feel they needed to do anymore today.
They did add another ABX - Bactrim DS
(I added Yogurt twice a day to avoid GI issues )
I'll f/u again on Friday.
I thought it would be best to link it with a NSFW notice due to blood.

It bled so much, I had to tape a kotex over the wound for awhile.

YIKES!
Well, if ya gotta cut on your self, least you are using the right tool for cutting. Not a razor blade or the like.
Never had a boil, but I thought docs lanced those. Lance in my mind being sharp and pointy. Thinking large gauge needle. Not cutting with a blade.
Guess you got it done though.
When ya need it done bad, bads how ya usually get it.
Good thing your a nurse, otherwise I'd be worried about the f/u.
You take care of yourself Gwen. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

I had to make sure it wouldn't close back up very quickly, so I needle wouldn't do in this case.
I have been nearly pain free since then.
Yes, doctors do this sort of thing, but I needed relief right then and wasn't going the ER where I work for that. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
