|
|
OK, so I am not an ATGATT type of guy in the summer, but winter is about keeping warm, with the side benefits of keeping skin in case of a down.
Trouble is... I am quite large.
Anyone have ideas where to get jackets/overpants in HUGE+??? _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

Hi Q/D....
Try: Motorcycle Super Store
Whitehorse Gear
Sierra
Aerostitch
..... and a zillion more. For 'dark side' stuff, try 'Leatherup' or
any local H/D dealer.
Have fun and please ride safe............// Ernie in NH

I dropped my Ultra Classic.... Once.... This thing is a bit top heavy, but no close calls yet... you do mean just letting it get away and it falling over?
As far as going down, I've done that a few times through the years... lost some skin and blood, nothing a few stitches didn't fix... not trying to do that again.. ha. But I'm sure it'll happen. I ride fairly conservatively now, and very situationally aware.. (sp?)
As far as the K, I actually find it very light, and easy to center stand, and also quite easy to ride and manuever slowly. One of the better balanced, ligher bikes I have had... just a joy to ride slow OR fast... ;0) _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

I have been all over that site, and there is nothing remotely large enough for me... need at least a 60 waist in overpants.. and probably a 64+ chest...
I am 360-380 pounds... like I said... B I G
I found a big and tall gear site, but not big enough.. they call 8x a 60" chest.....
I wear a 3x or 4x carhartt t-shirt... and 56" levi's but moto gear is sized for smaller people... oh well.... _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

motoport.com will custom make a jacket to fit. You just measure yourself as per their instructions. Their mesh kevlar jackets are usable from 110F to 20F using the right liners ie all year round. _________________ K1100RS '97

Well, I weigh in excess of 350 pounds.... SO... I am guessing the ease of putting it on stand stems from that... When you can push down with that much weight, the bike just goes right up... _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

Not unless you like to repair busted plastic and chipped paint!

Don't worry, I don't, I certainly am not planning on dropping it.. lol, but then again, I am sure nobody plans on dropping them!
No close calls yet, it truly seems rather light to me, the Ultra and my wing were a couple hundred pounds heavier I would think. and the engine being flat helps keep the COG lower of course. If anything the sheer height of the bike is the most awkward thing about it, my legs are barely 31" inseam (if that) _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

LOL!
Well that certainly explains the malodorous air wafting up from the southern hemisphere _________________ '02 - GL1800

Motoport seems to be the ticket. A bit more than I wanted to spend, so I will have to gear up in stages, the shop is too hungry for equipment to drop a grand on gear at this time... _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

Might depend on what tYres you have ie how high you have to lift it.
One thing about the Motoport is they are uncomfortable when you are not on the bike although mine is still pretty new, apparently they free up over time, however they are cut to suit riding ie they are really comfortable when in riding position. The waterproof liner actually works as opposed to my other jackets! _________________ K1100RS '97

And that is what I am looking for!
As you all surmise, I am pretty new to gear. When I used to winter tour, I would just put on my leather and if it was below freezing, I would use insulated work clothes along with the leather. Never had a get-off in winter though... so I am not sure how well protected I was. As a matter of fact, I haven't had a get off in over 20 years... hmmmm, now I jixed myself... _________________ I am: Andrew Stanford

Try motorcyclegear.com. But call them. They will know right away what they have in your size. Great prices. _________________ Ron
