My K11 has got under 100k on it and seems to run well, but i would like to ask about any problems/upkeep i would need to get done soon. It's a cafe build and i've shaved off all, i repeat ALL fairings and body parts just short of the gas tank(obviously a completely necessary part) and the performance has increased exponentially. My transmission doesnt seem to want to shift into second easily(without slamming the lever up rather hard) but that could have something to do with the seating position i have now(sitting directly on the frame pretty much).
side question for this: i was told i needed to replace the neck bearing due to my handlebars having wiggle room, but when i looked at this it seemed to be coming fromt he rubber mounts for the handlebars and not the steering bracket. Is that a standard part on the K bike? _________________ GM guy, saved by the graces of BMW

Well, not really sure what you are asking......
Yes, the handlebars are rubber mounted from the factory.
Some riders have taken and added some fender washers on both sides of the rubber grommet to "stiffen up" the handlebar mount.
As far as the transmission shifting issue, it could be a few different reasons why.
The clutch spline lubrication seems to affect downshifting more than upshifting.
A shifting problem can also be caused by a loose "grub screw" in the shifter lever linkage internal to the trans. Disassembly is required to repair this. _________________ Ride safe.

Your shifting problem could also be from a lack of weight. My LT shifts rather rough when unloaded(just me on it). I can load up the luggage or put a passenger on and the transmission shifts flawlessly. These transmissions exhibit a certain industrial quality, compared to my DL650 that I owned before the LT. _________________ 95 K1100LT Current ride

????? Have you checked if your gearbox and engine is bolted together.........or held together with rubber sticks?
Make no sense to me.

ok, i'm asking if there is anything i'll need to take the bike in for (being close to 100k) for preventative maintenance.
The tranny is something i can live with, and i'm pretty sure its just the sitting angle as shifting up is at the full extension of my foot so once i get done with the new seat i'm sure it'll relieve that problem quick, but only time will tell _________________ GM guy, saved by the graces of BMW
