Hello!

Is there an option for mounting a kind of luggage pockets in side panels of RS faring. A solution similar to LT would be nice.
I looking for a place to install J&M intercom (I have enough of wearing it on a belt) and side panel looks promising.

Best regards,

It was never an option and I'm not sure if engine cooling depends much on the vents in the sidepanels. I have mounted the headlight relays in the left vent.

Bob Weiss of current earplug fame made a run of them, they were awesome and functioned much like the LT hard pockets. They were made of cordura and had 3M Velcro lids with a tab to grip when wearing gloves. They secured to the bike with 3M super velcro and had a waterproof inner liner folding neck like a dry bag to keep them waterproof. I had a pair on my K11RS, no affect on heat I could find (matter of fact the only thing that affected heat on that bike was a new radiator cap and fresh BMW fluid - much improved!). Man I loved those things, perfect for sunglasses, camera, spare ear plugs, etc.

Richard Bernecker liberated them from the wreck when he and Bob Ryan drove up to Delaware to fetch it from the expensive impound lot and bring it to a dealer who shall remain nameless as the tale took a rather ugly turn after delivery.

I used to bug Bob about making another run but haven't since I bought an RT with locking pockets. Maybe if some others took up the torch ..... Wink

Ted,

Great idea. Would be interesting to do something like that.

Drikko,

I did the same thing. Good out of the way place for the Eastern Beaver relays.

I think some (Duck, and others) have even put the cruise control head unit is that space.

AFAIK the air flow on K11RS looks as follows:
- radiator, then against airbox to side and out via side vents on faring mid section.
Those vents on top, next to gas tank, looks to me more like palm warming device - a hot air blow.
Ted I have been reading your web page about K11, yet the photo of hose pockets would be a great help for me - I could try to do such thing on my own.

Best regards,
