Hi everyone,
I've only had the bike about 6 months and I love it. it's a 94 K1100LT with 55000 k's on the clock.
I hope you can help with a problem I'm having.
I was on the motorway in the fast lane, all of a sudden the bike just cut out. No miss, no warning, just going one second, off the next. All the electrics work but the fuel pump doesn't pump when I turn the ignition on. It just turns over until the battery eventually goes flat. I'm no auto electrician but I'm in a technical job and am ok with electrics, so i took the killswitch apart and bipassed it. Still nothing. I don't have a wiring diagram that covers the ignition side of things.
If anyone could help with a wiring diagram or knows what the problem might be, it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Duncan

Hi Duncan - first, welcome to K11OG!

I would check the sidestand switch first - that's the usual culprit. Try bypassing it - or see if there is stone lodged in there.

It doesn't hurt to spray some cleaner in the kill switch.

As Jim says the sidestand switch is one very often isn`t that cooperative, but then also lot of other circuits also is dissabled.

If all other electrics function as normal, I would check the connector for the fuel pump and level sensor, rear right corner of the tank.

Wiring diagrams.

Thanks for your help guys.
I fixed the problem, the wiring diagrams were helpful.
The big black Motronic plug directly beneath the seat wasn't plugged completely in.

Hi Duncan

First of all, welcome.

Glad to see that you got it fixed OK.

I am also on the Goldie, message me and maybe we can get together. Toy Run sounds good.

That was going to be my suggestion, unplug and reseat the connector.
This was an issue I ran into this fall myself.

Duncan - it's actually a good idea to clean and lube (silicone grease, dielectric grease, petroleum jelly) every connector you come across. I do this every spring for all the connectors that are easily accessed - and hit the others I see when I'm working on the bike. I've only had a bit of difficulty one time in the ten years I've had the bike.
