Hello all...

Say..... while at the HMSP-4, I saw someone that had replaced the std parking lamp with an LED strip.. Would appreciate any info on this replacement, who sells, how much, what size to buy, and any re-wiring required. As soon as I know what/how to do, I will remove the lower LT fairing panels and get to it !!

Thanks in advance.........// Ernie in NH

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Hi Bill.... Hi Inge...

Yes... Drake did the whole cluster conversion plus the 'parking lamp', and Shogai did the 'amber lamp' installation... BUT the one I saw was a band of bright white LEDs in which each bulb would light sequentially from the 'outside toward the center' until all were illuminated, having a cycle time of maybe 2 seconds or so before switching off such that only the two outermost bulbs remained lit, and then began the cycle again. Maybe I'm wrong about seeing it at HMSP.. but I do know it really grabbed your eye. Since the parking lamp contributes "nothing" to illumination, I was thinking that 'conspicuity' was the purpose. I know it really got my attention. If I find these and install them, I'll let everyone (pics) know...

Thanks..........// Ernie in NH

Very Happy Confused Very Happy Confused

Hello all...

OK... It seems I've inflicted all of you with yet another "senior moment".. It seems the bike I referred to was not a "K" bike at all but rather a Yamaha Venture 1200... and the location was not HMSP but rather a company picnic at a local NH State park (Elacoya )... However, the LED clusters were/are located behind the headlight lens cover and at the top as I noted. They were purchased from CustomDynamics.com, and do perform as I described, with one additional mode in that they 'flash' brightly for five seconds whenever the brake is activated. Since the AMA reports that ca. 70% of all major car/cycle accidents occur at intersections when 'left turning' cars, not seeing the rider, then move into the oncoming rider's path, I think the flashing could provide a significant warning as riders approach an intersection.... given our justifiable obsession with 'conspicuity' such 'flashing' could IMO do nothing but help... any thoughts ??

Best regards all.........// Ernie in NH

Very Happy Very Happy

Hi John....

Well... YES ! A double moment ! But say, it was really more of a 'finger slip' this time. The hard part is NOT being able to recall a message in that split second when you realize what has just happened. Not using my age as an excuse, but I'll wager it happens to the best of us from time to time.

Very best regards.....// Ernie in NH
