|
|
So now that I have some good miles on the bike with the WS2 in the final drive, tranny and engine the most notable is how the bikes shifts. I had moly in the tranny before but having the WS2 in there really makes a difference. The bike shifts smoother up and down the numbers and I don't have to think about preloading before shifting. It also is not as clunky when I shift as it was before.
I would recommend that you try it in in your trans if you can. _________________ Rich

Is that the additive, tungstune something or other you had in another post?

I've never understood this preloading the shift lever thing. I've owned something like 15+ K bikes at one time or another (and ridden many more) and have never found the need to preload the shift lever. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I found that preloading kept the "klunk" of the shift down to a minimum. I no longer have to do that and the klunkiness has diminished greatly. _________________ Rich

I still have some but I don't know yet how much I will be using over time so I don't know how much I will sell.
If a lot of people want it then it may be worthwhile to sell what I have so people won't be stuck with a pound of it that they may not go through for a long while. If I sell out I will pick up some more. _________________ Rich

I've never had to preload shift lever on the K. It shifts like a knife through butter. During spirited rides I go up and down through most gear changes without even using the clutch.
Now the R bike, that's a totally different story. _________________ '93 K1100LT

i think the k trans likes positive gear changes..ie not having the clutch in all the way when shifting, or having the transmission completely onloaded.
i think preloading the shifter is in essence short shifting..ie. shifting before the clutch is completely disengaged...
What ever works for you I say..... |

How easy or hard a K shifts seems to vary bike to bike.
My departed '93 RS felt about average to my left foot when shifting.
My current '92 RS shifts TOO easily. I need to do a very deliberate shift and feel the lever come to a stop, otherwise (without glancing at the gear indicator) I could be shifting up or down, not actually shifting at all, or finding a false neutral. _________________ John & Cathy

Hello all...
My experience using the WS2 that I got from Rich is exactly the same... improved positive shifting, reduced operating temperature, improved milage by appx 2mpg. Am also using the WS2 in the FD to help reduce the strain of loading. Have also put the WS2 in the '76 R100/7 in both the FD and the Engine. So far I have not quantified those differences...

Ernie,
Haven't forgotten about sharing some of that slippery stuff with you. Thinking of using it in my FD, maybe in my already slick shifting trans.
Will PM you soon.
