Hi, All,
I visited with the surgeon a couple of days ago. I need to have a couple of tests/scans/etc. beforehand, but surgery is scheduled for 10/21 at 8:00am at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The plan is for them to do a gastrectomy - removal of the stomach along with as much esophagus is diseased. Then they'll sew me (staple me?) up and I'll recover from the surgery. Then I'll have to learn how to eat all over again - smaller and more frequent meals, among other things. I'll keep you informed.
My daughter's computer died in a storm last week. I'm home (El Paso, TX) now at my computer, but upon returning to Marian's on Tuesday, I don't know if I'll be able to get on the internet. So if I don't answer you, it isn't that I'm angry with you or anti-social (in most cases). _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi Phil, that all sounds pretty daunting, but better than the alternative. All of us down under have our fingers crossed and wishing you all the luck mate. Medicine these days is capable of incredible things, they'll do their best I am certain.
All the best.
Cheers

Hi, All,
My daughter called me today and told me she had bought a new laptop to replace her fried desktop. That means when I am recuperating from the surgery, I won't have to climb the stairs to the second story to get to the computer! So keep those e-mails (and cards and letters) coming! A week and a half and hopefully I'm rid of this s**t. _________________ Ride Safe,

Hi Phil....
Just got back myself from a long ride, and read the news.... Around the globe, we've all got you in our hearts and prayers, and with a team like this there is no other option than a 'full recovery' ! Best wishes my friend we'll all be with you on the 21st !!

Hi Phil from all of us down here in New Zealand, we will be thinking of you on the 21st mate and looking forward to hearing that you are up about again soon and getting in to your usual mischief , who knows we might be back down your way again one of these days to try that spag/bol of yours again, as I tried for seconds at HM111 but Darryl beat me to the last dish, he's always been a greedy 'bugger'
Best Whishes Mate, we'll be thinking of you.
