Just to stir it up a bit more , I work in a semi conductor consumer plant (HP) and we use de-ionised water and reverse osmosis water in our processes , true de-ionised water is nigh on impossible to maintain as contact with any metallic object adds ions again , for use in a petrol engine as a coolant any softened and filtered water is perfectly suitable , D I water is an expensive waste , I use R O water which is just softened and incredibly well filtered for all battery top ups and coolant mixes , this aint the space shuttle we are maintaining here lads ! _________________ 1995 Grinnall Scorpion III(1990 K100 16v motor)

Good morning "gpzo..."
Sure..! Really any water that is free of hard-mineral content is good. Silicates, calcium compounds, iron, etc... will all deposit themselves on the interior aluminum surfaces to some degree or another. DI is overkill and only remains as DI only briefly as you state... RO water is great too... but in a pinch even tap or stream water can be used if later flushed.. Re the "space shuttle" comparison, is your "K" not in direct communication with Houston as are the rest of us ????
Best regards, and ride safe..........// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers
