My clutch cable is just about to snap and I'd like some advice on the simplest way to remove and replace it please.
I don't have a home so the repair will need to be done on the street with not much more than a couple of spanners and a screw driver.
I know how to detach, re-attach and adjust the cable at the levers (having done that many times on my old K100RS). What I really need to know is what components need to be removed to complete the job and how. Even the plastic handlebar cover has got me stumped.
Any advice will be gratefully accepted. _________________ 1992 K1100LT |

Hi, Midnight Toker,
I've had a couple snap or replaced them just before they snapped. I loosened them at the lever end, then at the bottom, then taped the new one to the old one and pulled it through.; I found why it didn't pull - maybe there was a tie wrap or something (I don't remember) but, by and large, it was quite easy. After the new one is through, attach the top and bottom ends, renew the tie wrap(s) as necessary, adjust the clutch, and you're on your way. _________________ Ride Safe,

Thanks Phil,
I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.
Cheers
