K1100LT.My front brake lever has been leaking some brake fluid recently and the front brakes
then locked one day plus the brake lever was hardly able to move. Now the front brakes
will not work nor the lever will hardly move ?!

Beemer bone yard sells a new front master cyclinder for a reasonable price. Better then rebuilding the old one every year or two.

One of the reasons to change your fluid every year to keep the system clean not let crud build up.

Seems that at 12k the pads are gone. Is this normal?

Hi, S2Scout,
You have a K1100RS; I had K1100LT's, but the brakes are the same. I put about 110k miles on my '96 K1100LT and, on average, got about 24k miles from the rear pads and 36k miles from the front pads. I always used OEM BMW pads (part numbers and pad material changed in the late 1990's). That's on MY bike, MY riding style, etc., etc. Your mileage may vary.

Are the pads worn evenly thin? I'm talking inner/outer not so much left/right.
It's possible that you could have the some pistons dragging in the caliper that would cause premature pad wear, or at least uneven pad wear.

I reckon your lever or piston is not returning fully. When the brake lever is pulled the piston covers the reservoir return hole, then pushes the fluid down the lines.
So when you release the lever, if this hole is not uncovered & the fluid cannot return from whence it came, In effect "pumping up" the system. If you loosen the bleed nipple & get a squirt then the system was still pressured.
Remove lever, checking for easy operation, then check piston & bore for crud which will stop it fully returning to the "home" position.
