Hi,
I researched this a lot last year and came to the conclusion that it was a) questionably legally in the uk, and b) would dazzle oncoming traffic.
It seems the reflector of HiD lamps are different to halogen and hence the dazzling.
I've installed some LED running lights (makes you very conspicuous) and one of the new xenon/halogen H4 bulbs (Ring I think).

Search for 'hid' inthe search facility, there's multiple threads in the last year or so on it.
Cheers

I put a Xenon light in my KLT, and the light is superb.
That's the power box.

wel i'm here in the UK and i've had an HID conversion in for at least 5 years, it's been a vast improvement. I've been involved with police escorted runs and have had no comeback, it's also been through an MOT every year without any question including the headlight alignment check. I've never had a complaint about dazzeling oncoming drivers or from friends in their mirrors when being followed.
I would not be without it now as the light output is far superior to the standard bulb.
It all depends on the rating of the bulb you choose, i went for 6000k which gives you a white/blue light which is the same as modern cars the have xenon as standard.
I would say though that you check out the supplier before you purchase e-bay has some good ones as well as bad so don't discount all the ones from China. They've also come down a lot in price as i paid over £100 for my bike kit and only£35 for a two bulb kit for my van last year. _________________ Fat Ba***d with a K1100LTse

Most HID systems come from Chinese sweatshops that have no quality control and no DOT certifications. That is ok if you you don't ride when dark.
Riding when dark with less than a quality certified headlight is foolish. _________________ Communique via Garmin ZUMO 665 via HTC DROID Incredible ADR6300 via The Spoken Word Talk to Text |
