There is a great documentary about it on the web. The whole bottled water industry was started from scratch by soft drink companies looking for something to sell once people started getting upset about soda in general. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I just filled up today. Since I run the first tank hi test, then mid grade the rest of the year, this is the blow...$13.25, total for just under 3.5 gals = $3.85 per gal. Mid grade = $3.75 per gal. regular = $3.69 per gal. From what I gather, we will se it rise to a whopping $5.00 +/- per gallon. Yep lets all say shall we line the pockets of the independantly wealthy big oil co's. Oh lets not forget they claim the problem lies in the mid east. Bull crap dudes. They do not supply the US with that much oil! All those on Wall Street need to be shut down. No offence just a little ticked about a forcast that doesn't exist. Just like last year and the year before when the price shot up to over $4.00/gal. _________________ Live free and ride hard. 94 K1100RS Brick rider |

Nothings wrong with tap water, the bottled water is tap water! Oh yes thats right from the source!
If you all read the bottles, you may find "purified" or "reverse osmossis purified", which means it came from a water treatment plant. Do you all know what water they treat? Take one guess!! If you said SEWER, CORRECT!!! _________________ Live free and ride hard. 94 K1100RS Brick rider |

Compared to other parts of the world, the USA doesn't really have a problem with high fuel prices yet. Even the AU$1.50 a litre here is cheap compared to the Poms, or Portugal for example. _________________ David, owner of:

I never buy bottled water - unless I absolutely have to (too much plastic) - and then I will buy only spring water - not bottled tap water. Why pay for bottled tap water??? Just fill your nalgene/polyethylene bottle at the nearest tap. _________________ Jim

I keep some bottled water with me on the road (at work).
(By the case it's about $0.18 each.)
A side benefit: Better dentist checkups. Don't keep traces of soda on your teeth. It's lo-cal, easy to clean up if spilt, and a splash works wonders in your solder station sponge. _________________ RIP (Roy Parker)

Current prices in the Scottish Highlands
(Isle of Skye, and lochalsh, Mainland)
95 RON standard unleaded - £139.9 L - £6.35 per UK Gallon - £5.30 per US Gallon(=$8.60) current exchange rates on xe.com
Diesel - £146.9 L =more than the petrol.
That's just the mainland and skye which is connected to the mainland by a trunk road.
The outer isles, last check with the friends out on Scalpay, Harris was about £145.9 L unleaded
Bloody infuriating it is when the rest of the country is paying AT LEAST 10p per litre less, i wouldn't mind but even though we're rural the bloody refineries are in Inverness and Aberdeen, about 80-100 miles away, it's further to Edinburgh / Glasgow from them but cheaper fuel! _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, de-briefed or numbered! |

We aren't that far from that too. E.g., when petrol goes up one cent, diesel goes two...
Fuel prices are getting to a point that, last week, truck drivers from all over the country went into some kind of a strike. They didn' leave fellow truckers to pass, even forcing them to a alt. Result: more than 50 fuel stations ran out of petrol and diesel. Lots of "closed" signs in the entrance!...
Finally, that made the goverment negociate and aprove some measures for the transportation sector... Meaning: where will this end? _________________ Carlos

While I agree with your general points, the difference down here in Birmingham is'nt as much as much as you think; Diesel is about £140-143 per litre and Petrol is generally about 132.9-134.(Bought both today)
Seems to go up about two pence a litre at the weekend and falls back a little on Mondays ? _________________ 1993(94 MODEL) K1100RS IN ASTRAL BLUE
