|
|
So the 95 K11 is stripped down to the engine block. My zealous mentor wants to replace whatever we can while we're down at this level.
I do not disagree in principle, but I'm wondering specifically about the large hoses from the airbox to the TBs. They seem thick, and while they're hard (as would be expected on a sixteen year old bike), they seem thick and solid.
My question is this: has anyone experienced leaking in those hoses from the airbox to the TBs? The hoses themselves are apparently not sold separately; the airbox is $240. (But I'll admit that for my own reasons I've ordered one from the boneyard @$45.)
Thanks for putting up with my trivial pursuits.

Larry,
Very small leaks there are of no big concern. (unless you like riding in dust storms- oh wait, I just remembered where you live )
Now the short "boots" between the TB and the cylinder head should be free of any leaks, large or small. But you already knew that.
Just pointing out the obvious.

Not quite the same issue Larry, but a similar theme.
I thought I would replace the fuel hoses on my 17 year old K1100rs, as they were "old,"as a precaution.
So I did.having investigated the 1993 original factory fit hose I removed, I found it to be in excellent condition, not even any external hardening or micro cracks and when I cut it open to examine the internal structure there was no discernable problem there either. So I could have saved myself time and money !!
in contrast I had to replace the fuel pipe on my two year old URAL, which had visible exterior cracks forming at only 5000 ks. _________________ 1993(94 MODEL) K1100RS IN ASTRAL BLUE
