So last night we finished our Ironbutt Saddle Sore 1600k's (same as your 1000 but in modern units that the rest of the planet uses). I will be taking the H4 HID conversion back out immediately. So my initial enthusiasm was justified, the light given out was incredible. Half of the run was at night so I got plenty of time to test it. To be honest I don't think it would have been anywhere near as safe.
So why pull it out? So to get the right height for high beam which lights the road up like daylight, means the low beam is too high and really gives the oncoming drivers the shits. I got abused by nearly every on coming driver. They torched me with their high beams and spotlights continuously. It got so bad I had to stop and point the headlight back down again. Fortunately I still had my Hella FF50's which kept it safe on high beam.
So it just doesn't work in the old light for low beam sorry. Perfect for high beam and your driving lights, spot light etc, just not low beam. I've got the HID conversions for the Hella FF50s coming over, I'll report on them then.
will write the SS 1600 up later when I get the camera unpacked.
Cheers

So I have pulled the HID out of the headlight, put the super duper Halogen bulb back in and done the HID conversion to the one little FF50 driving light. This is WAY better, high beam with the FF50 on is simply awesome. I have a second one but I'm not sure I need it! the light coming back off signs and things is almost too much now!
Much happier with this as it won't annoy oncoming vehicles. _________________ K1100RS '97

How about some pics and details on the FF50 upgrade? What brand/model HID did you use? _________________ 93 LT (x2)
