OK all of you GPS GURU's, I need some adult supervision.
I have had a Street pilot 2610 and just upgraded to a 2720. route planning can sometimes drive me batty. If I don't have a specific set of roads in mind everything is wonderful. I just tell it I'm here and take me there.
However, if I desire to go someplace on back roads and just want to travel road A, until it intersects road B and then stay on road B to road C, to my destination I have to define unpteen waypoints and insert each of them into my route to force the darned thing to stay on that route.
Is there any other way to do this? The 2720 lets me avoid specific roads, why can't I specify a preferred road? Am I dumb or is that just the way it is?

That's just the way it is.
If you want to direct the route you have to use either waypoints or via-points.
I think the differnce is that waypoints are entered into you favorites database that you have to upload to the gps separate from the routes where as the via-points are just embeded into the route as it's created and saved, and only available for that specific route.
I have not used via-points specifically but that's what I recall from reading about them.
And it gets worse with the newer units to boot. _________________ Ride safe.

That's what I was afraid of, I was just hoping for some neat trick to get around it.
Thanks. _________________ Rod Kilduff
