Has anyone ever replaced the glass for the VDO gauges.
My gas gauge is so cloudy I can not see thru it.

If so how would I go about it ?

Pretty simple install and the VDO is a dead-on measurement of fuel, unlike the stocker which bounces like a teenager.

For some reason, only the 93 fuel gauges were undamped. Other years' fuel gauges are damped better than the VDOs.

Hhhmmm, my 96 RS fuel guage swings faster than a palm tree in a cyclone, so not sure I agree with that. When I get some time I'm going to add some electrical damping to it.

I've just noticed dealextreme.com sell replacement torch lenses which are just round flat glass. They have a swag of different sizes so one of them may well fit the guages and be a lot cheaper than getting them made!

mine doesn't jump around alot, so maybe i have a non-93 gauge? don't see anything in the receipts about it being replaced, but that doesn't mean it wasn't.

Hmmm, my '93 gauge is rock solid and very accurate. Go figure...

I'd assumed it was 93 only because my 92 K100RS4V and 94 K1100RS were damped but both OTG's and my 93 LTs had the flippy ones.

Seems like it's random. No makey sense.

or maybe it is an lt vs. rs thing? that doesn't make sense either. or just flakey manufacturing of the gauges? this may require some further investigation. i will likely be in possession of another 93 k11rs by the end of the night and will let you know how its gas gauge performs.

The fuel gauge indicator on my '93 only bounces around when the tank is full- I suspect that there must be a problem with the sending unit in the full position. Possibly a dead spot in the windings.
