Hello, and salutations.
I've just purchased a 1993 K1100RS, with some kind of older Corbin saddle. I've previously owned a couple of Honda old school inline-4's, a Suzuki GS1150e, and a Kaw ZR-7.
#1 The problem is that I though I'm fairly tall, I have a short inseam. I'm on my tiptoes at a standstill on this bike, and it's not a good situation. I haven't ridden in the last 7 1/2 years, so I have to get my legs back anyway, but it's really difficult to do so with such a heavy bike on my tiptoes.
I like any suggestions about how to lower the seat to road distance.
#2 I'm also interested in finding out if I can move the footpegs down maybe an inch. I've got some nerve damage in my knees, and the riding position is somewhat uncomfortable.
#3 I'm also possibly interested in putting on a set of bar risers, like these:

Thank you in advance for your help. |

The K is tall - my inseam is 32 and I had trouble with the high center of gravity too!
The only mod I did was loosen the triple clamps to the front forks and let the fork tubes up by 1".
It helps a little.

Thanks for your replies.
Today I took her out for her maiden (for me) ride. Only about 10 miles or so, but it was really nice to ride once more.
Everything came back immediately. Gotta grease those creaky hip and knee joints. |

I ride a L1100LT as well as K100RS. I am 5'6" with a 28" inseam. I have a K75 Low seat conversion on the bike and I installed a YSS K100 Rear shock. ( K100 shock is shorter then the K1100 shock But still bolts right in) I also pushed the tubes thru the triple trees but I only did that about 5/8". The trouble you are going to have is if you lower the seat you are going to tighten up the bend in the knees. In a case like that a set of highway pegs might do the trick. I have rear sets on my K100RS which brings the feet back about an 1 1/2" to 2" but it also brings them up 1/2" so that will not work for you. I would look into the low seat and rear shock. YSS makes a nice shock and since he already did mine I am sure he will kow what you are looking for. Also the K75 Low seat is narrow so when you stop you are not spreading your legs as wide to get them to the ground. There is a low seat conversion for sale on the IBMWR web page that is listed in new condition. I think that is your best place to start. If you want to see how it looks on my bike let me know and I will send you a few pics.
As far as the Bars you might want to look into a set of K75C bars. I know those will fit with a little bit positioning to get the right angle.

Get some riding boots with thicker soles.
Shaving the sides of the seat will help.
Lowering the pegs would reduce the bike's turning radius. However, if you don't ride too hard that might not be an issue. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Show us your ride!
Adjusting the forks in the triple tree to lower the bike will negatively affect handling as it afects the geometry to the bike.
Other's have tried it, bike will tend to need extra coaxing to turn, and then falll into the turn harder than normal. That's bad on the bigger , read heavier K1100. May be better with a K75, but try the other stuff first.
Custom seat, radial tires if they are not on there already help a bit, and yes, maybe hiking boots with a thicker sole too.
Best of luck & enjoy the ride! _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Works Performance has a dual rate rear Street Tracker shock that lowers the bike by an inch. That is what I have on my LT.

Thanks for all the replies. A pretty dedicated bunch of people live here...
Anyway, after my ride yesterday, I'm not feeling as unsure about the seat to road height as before. The bars seemed pretty comfortable, as well, as far as positioning goes.
Now I need to find a mount for my radar detector, and possibly a GPS.
I'm also thinking that if the seat "hump" were a bit further to the aft of the bike, it would solve the knees issue.

You'll be in the groove in no time!
I RARELY put both feet down at a stop. Most often just the right, lightly balanced.
Some may disagree as the rear brake lightmay not be activated if the front brake is not engaged enough to trigger the light.
Came from years of hot getaways and wanting to hit the 1 to 2 shift faster. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Or indeed this might be helpful
www.realmengineering.com. [ look under suspension].
Specifically developed for Kays.
These shox are normally 25mm shorter. The K100 is 30mm shorter - works fine - I'm 29.5" inside leg and the tippy toe stopping was getting to be a pain. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

That's an expensive inch, even minus the VAT. |
