Hi all,

I am searching for pictures that show how the original leads are routed and specialy how they loop round.

I do not have my originals anymore, but am trying to order some Magnecor's from the UK, but there seem to be some hick ups and i was asked to get some photos....

so, if someone has some nice pictures, please share here!

Here's a shot of the Magnecor wires I just installed. I put small zip ties on them to identify which cylinder they go to. Their lengths are more or less the same as the stock leads.

Cylinder 1 (front) goes straight from the coil to the plug.

Cylinder 2 goes past the plug and loops back. (Why it's the longest of the lot.)

Cylinder 3 goes straight from the coil to the plug

Cylinder 4 goes past the plug and loops back.




Why not just have them get the proper specs from the Magnecor US guys?

yeah that is what i told Phil on the phone. but there seemed to be some difficulty....

he wanted to know how they looked looped...

he was also waiting on another customer to supply him these pictures... could that be Beachcomber?

Hi Moons,
regretably I've removed all my stock leads and sent them off to the manufacturers !

However, I cannot understand WHY the 2 leads mentioned double back????

Firstly, 2 of the standard sets I stripped were chaffed where this occurred and secondly what about the possibility of "cross firing" with the two adjacently fired cylinders?

My US cousins will be well familiar with this phonomonen with old Ford SB's where this occurred [ 6/7 or 7/8? ].

Then the obvious question "why" the doubling back?

On every single car I've owned in recent years - the plug leads are the correct length to go directly to the plug with no twisting, turning or doubling back.

In fact that's the very question I've posed to the two manufacturers here in the UK. I could understand it if the length had something to do with the electrical property - but then the OEM leads aren't the same length so that theory goes out of the window.

My plan is [ assuming no electrical probs ] to ask the current manufacturer to produce a set of leads of exactly the correct length without resort to doubling back etc.

I expect the first set of "production" leads back in the next week or two - I'll keep you all posted.

I know why they double back, it is mainly because you can NOT (only with great difficulty) remove the number 4 (and to some extend number 3) lead when the have a short lead.

When you want to "easily" remove the 4, you need to unplug the coil connector. When using original length leads, there is no need to do that.

Personally, I do not care for the length; I just want a good set.

It's a wasted spark system so cross-firing is not an issue.
