I'll go riding with you - but it'll take me a day or two to get there...

Hi, Jim,
Let me know when you're going. It may take me 3 days to get there, but I really enjoyed myself the last time I was there. I enjoyed the lobster, too.

Hey Ernie, you might have been confusing the "real" Jim with me. I'm in NH and we were pm'ing about a ride. Jim's in Virginia but maybe he'll come too! Smile Smile

Hi Jim ( ie: Saltcreek Jim )....

YES...! I did get my "Jims" confused, but thats one of the advantages of the enjoying the occasional "senior moment". Despite that, no harm in a little ride up from VA or the other way for that matter...eh? Looks like talk is heating up re the HMSP event. Is that one that you will be able take in ?? If so, perhaps the entire NH contingent could be represented.

In the meantime, enjoy your Sunday now thats its stopped raining !!

very best regards...........// Ernie-NH

Popping my head over the parapet after not having posted for a couple of years....

I recently used Turtle Wax to clean the screen on my LT, and to my irritation it reacted with the anti-scratch coating, which all flaked off.

On eBay UK I've just scored a really good used screen for £29 (something under $50) which sounds like a bargain compared to the prices being quoted here.

Motorworks in the UK sells screens for about one-third of the $300+ I'm seeing here. OK, so freight will be expensive-ish, but OTOH as it's an export order you won't have to pay the 17.5% UK sales tax, so it's horses for courses.

Take a look:

Not uncommon after some years of sun exposure. The coating on my '97 was flaking off by '05.

I just keep it cleaned off more often. Realistically you look OVER it not thru it most of the time.

BTW, welcome back.

Hi,
Unless their policy has changed, Motorworks refuses to ship to the USA. MotoBins does ship to the USA. I ordered something from them on a Saturday; it was delivered to me in Texas, USA the next Friday.

I agree with the suggestion to replace the shield. I've tried a couple different products to remove haze from the plastic headlight covers on my daughter's car. Nothing's worked. I tried using a buffer wheel in a high-speed drill. The covers looked better after polishing, but the haze returned within a week.

Oh, how odd. I saw they had the usual drop-down list of export destinations, but didn't actually bother to check whether the US was on them. If they've had as many problems as I've had with US buyers on eBay, then maybe that's the reason.

Not US sellers, incidentally, who've been great: just the buyers Rolling Eyes

Note to Ted... ( Windscreen update )

Ted recommended using the Meguiars #18 and then the #10 etc.. I had used the PlastX compound and even tried the 3M Plastic polish first because could not find the Meguiars products. I did an OK job of getting 90% maybe more of the "cloudiness" out... but then the local NAPA got the Meguiars #18 and #10 for me and I re-did the whole project. All can say is WOW what a difference. Exactly like Ted said, the Meguiars two step process and diligent buffing has made an exceptional difference. Though it is not like new due to the minor scratches the PO put on it trying to remove the coating, it is just super transparent now and worth every once of energy expended !

Thank you Ted !!

Very best regards..............// Ernie-NH
