The problem: I was riding my 1991 K100RS and when I pulled the clutch lever in to change gears and the clutch stayed disengaged like the clutch lever was still pulled in. There is a bunch of free play in the cable at the lever now. The transmission still has all its gears but the clutch won’t engage, it’s like I still have the clutch lever pulled. The cable is intact and connected at both ends. Almost seems the clutch pushrod is stuck? Any ideas?

Thanks

Dale C

1. Your avatar is waaaaaay to big. Needs to be changed.
2. Something is hanging up your clutch cable at the source on the engine. Rock, stick, etc.

The cable is still intact. If the cable broke, I wouldn't have the clutch stuck disengaged. I'll look for something lodged by the lever at the rear of the transmission.

Thanks

A stone has probably flung up between the clutch lever and the exhaust box. It's happened to me, with exactly the same symptoms.

Check that the clutch adjustment nut has not loosened, down on the transmission. I think it is a 13mm nut that you lock after you have adjusted the clutch lever play.

The adjuster nut is OK. It's like the clutch rod depressed to disengage the clutch then jammed and didn't return. I'll have it on the lift this weekend and get a closer look at it.

It would have lodged in between the lever and the catalytic converter. Have a helper pull the clutch in all the way and shoot some compressed air in there. That should do it and it won't take long.

Sure enough a small pea sized rock lodged between the clutch actuator lever and the exhaust collector box. Knocked it out with a long screw driver and presto everything works.

Thanks for the replies.
