Was looking at the Cee Bailey site at windshields for the LT and was wondering if the "Euro Cut" is a performance or aesthetic feature? _________________ Thomas Adamo |

I believe it is a functional feature (allows you to look over the screen in the middle of the screen while giving you more wind protection at the edges)

I had the +4 Euro cut windshield. Provides less buffeting and more protection from rain, hail and frogs. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I've got a +3.5 Euro Cut. I think it buffets more than my "normal-shaped" Parabellum +4 did.
It's tinted too so obstructs my vision a little on way leaned over turns at night.
I still like it though. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

On my 97 LT I went in a different direction and it works for ME. I got tired of helmet buffeting so I bought 3, K1200LT windshields, all for 30 bucks, used of course and none perfect. I set out to find what profile works best for ME. I am 6' 1" with a 33" inseam and have a Rick Mayer saddle. The K12 windshields have a much more pronounced radius at the mounting bolt locations so it doesn't lay as good as the original shield does. I made riser blocks out of 1/2" white plastic and drilled two mounting holes in each one to set on the arms. I cut the small cutout off at the bottom of the K12 shields and use an acrylic drill bit to drill new mounting holes. I actually cut of the bottom mounting hole off of the K12 and shaped a nice long radius at the bottom.Iused my 30" bandsaw to cut the shield and my 24" disc sander for the outside radius and my spindle sander for the inside radius. After many different profiles and many miles I came up with a profile that works for ME. It is a much more prnounced Euro cut with a deeper center which results in bigger ears on each side of the cut. The shield works great and I get no buffeting at all. With it raised only a little bit my vision is good and no bugs reach my S1 visor. If I could figure out how this picture @#$% works I could post pictures. I can make anything out of work but forget this computer stuff. I am a patternmaker and woodworker and I have no CNC machines. If I can send pictures to someone let me know. _________________ Reisdent woodworker

I bought a +5" Euro cut. I'm about 6'4", it's an inch too short. I like it but in these stiff Dakota cross winds it seems to cause strong turbulence/back pressure. Low wind days it's great but low wind days on the flatlands are few. I had the Euro cut on my oilhead RT and loved it. |

Flying Brick, Thanks for posting my pictures. Maybe someday I will get my head out of the sawdust and learn more about computers.

Doesn't the spring clip stop the windshield from fully retracting? And, why do you need two shields at the same time Jim? _________________ Larry

Larry - I posted the pix for knothead. The spring clip is holding the stock shield against the other one for comparison. _________________ Jim

Doh, Even I from across the pond got that comment.
The clip is for catching birds as you ride along, saves scraping road kill up when camping _________________ 1999 K1100LTIC Smooth and Quiet Cruise, BFD & HID

I thought the clip was the remove the outer shield fast in case you need to serve a platter of food or Hor'derves. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Actually guys the extra shield is kinda like a tear offs that the Moto GP racers use on their helmets but mine is just an extra shield. It is kinda cool when it flies off, it makes some crazy manuvers when it gets airboune
and the cages behind do some crazy stuff when they see it coming. The clamp is just a quick release. _________________ Reisdent woodworker
