I recently bought the same (I think) bag for my 1100LT off CL for $55. Mine came with the clips but if you already have them I think you're OK unless someone else chimes in and says the K75 bag is different. Hope you don't get into bidding against someone from here! _________________ Jim

Hi, All,
The mounting for the K75/100 tank bag IS NOT the same as the mounting of the K1100 tank bag. The clips on the K75/100 base grip the underside of the fuel tank seams. The clips on the K1100 base fit into mounts you bolt onto the K1100. They don't come from the factory with them. I just saw a set on e-bay - the first time I've seen them in a LONG time. _________________ Ride Safe,

edit: cause i'm not sure i read phil's post correctly.
phil, are you just saying that the mounting clips don't get attached the same or are you saying the bag won't work with the k11 clips at all? i already have the clips installed on my bike and would like to put them to use with a bag.
i'm thinking i may just bid on it anyways since it is so cheap and see what happens. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

The picture doesn't tell much.
The side straps apear to not be swept rearward enough to mount to the K1100 tank clips.
But yet the bag zippers coming down around the bottom towards the middle are similar of the bag mounts for the k1100's.
Ideally a better picture of the actual clip connection at the end of the strap would tell all. _________________ Ride safe.

Hi, Supercat1,
I have never tried to attach a K75 tank bag to a K1100. On the K1100, you purchase 2 clips from your dealer and permanently mount them to (if I remember correctly) bosses on the tank. Then, the K1100 tank bag straps have clips which fit into those clips, keeping everything secure. The K1100 tank bag clips will not work on the tank seams of the K75/100. Whether the K75 tankbag clips will work on the K1100 tank seams, I don't know. The K75RT tank is the same as the K1100 tank, so unless something is in the way (frame rails, maybe?), the tank bag should work. Sorry I can't tell you definitely, but someone in the list probably can. _________________ Ride Safe,

I have both type of bags.
The bag bases for the older style bags use a bent wire clip that clips to the bottom of the tank seam. They will fit on an LT as the side panel have a little more gap between the panel and the tank.
The RS has less gap and the straps/clips of the older bag won't fit between them so for an RS you will need the frame mounted clips and the newer style bag/base.
I experimented with the older style bag on J.O.'s Midwest RS when I had it here and it wouldn't fit with out having to cut the side panel, which I wan't going to do. _________________ Ride safe.

well ... since i have the clips already installed on the tank i might as well get the bag. especially if i can get it on the cheap. i work at an architectural sheet metal shop in kc so if the end clips on the bag don't exactly fit the clips i have on the tank i can get new one manufactured for the bag. or if the straps don't fit, my mother is good at that stuff.
thanks for the info guys! i'll definitely post pics and info if i win the item. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

well asked the seller a couple questions but it doesn't look good for it working on a k11. it apparently has the appropriate bikes stamped listed on it somewhere. and beyond that even if i could fab new parts/pieces for it, not sure it is worth the effort. but the owner is gonna send me some pics of the clips and a better top down image just in case. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

ARGH. so i bought a tank bag off of ibmwr. it was listed as fitting a k1100LT and that there was another base being sold seperately that fit k1, k1100lt/rs. so i figured that if one base fit the lt it should fit the same as the other. guess what? turns out the base sold with the bag that supposedly fits an lt is stamped as follows:
R65, RT ab Sept. 1985
R80, RT
DAMN IT! the bag is right, just the base is wrong. so i'm just at about 2/3 of the way there. anyone know someone willing to purchase an r65/80 rt base or that has a k11lt/rs base for sale?
hell this thing even came with extra clips that go under the edge of the tank.
so effing close yet so very very far away ... _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

I have a base floating around here somewhere - I'm fairly certain it has 1100 stamped in the bottom. The issue is the zippers - they used at least two different sizes/kinds. If you want to take a chance on it - $35.00 shipped. The elastic on the sides is good. _________________ Jim

well, if you find it and it does have k1100lt/rs stamped on it i will definitely be interested unless someone here undercuts your price.

So post it for sale on IBMWR again.
Only in the R sales section, you might get a buyer there faster than here with other K riders. _________________ Ride safe.

okay, well from what i can tell about the zippers on the bag, the ones on the base are the same brand as the rest -- RIES. further, the teeth between the bag and the base are slightly bigger and wider spaced than those on the rest of the bag (i tried zipping the expansion section to the base and it didn't take). _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |
