Is it really necessary to replace the gaskets every time you remove the exhaust? Going to do the wrap thing and need to know if I should order gaskets. Hopefully that will take the heat off my left foot. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Clymers strikes again.
| Quote: | | Discard all ring gaskets --they must be replaced every time the exhaust systen is removed to ensure a leak-free seal. |

Hi, Scott,
BMW says to replace the gaskets every time. That said, the one time my K1100LT exhaust was removed (warranty - broken stud up in the head and bike had been regularly serviced by the dealer), there were no exhaust gaskets on the repair order. This was a warranty repair, so I would think if it were really necessary, it would have been done! _________________ Ride Safe,

They were pretty cheap, for BMW, $1.45. So I wrapped it up with some other crap just in case. When I get that DEI Titanium Wrap installed I will have more HP and a leaner running engine Well, I just hope a cooler left tootsie. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT
