yeah, I already have the RS rear wheel and in fact I think without that extra width, the current tyre (or tire!) set up would be even more unstable.

I have an RS and I run dunlop road smart tires and the are awesome..smooth and great in wet weather.nothen bad to say about them. Just keep the air at max and all is good Cool
Just make sure you run them at 42psi, And they will last along time at 12 psi they ware very bad and you only do that once Embarassed

I am in the market for some new tires and am looking at the PR2s. I read in some forum, I can't remember if it was here or another one that on their K11LT they were runing the 110 PR2s on the front and the 150 PR2s on the rear wiith the standard K11LT rim with no problem.

Any thoughts!

The Azaros come in the stock sizes. I rna them on my LT but the front had irregular wear problems and thye were off thebike in <2000 miles. Hopefully they have their quality problems worked out these days.

I'm running PR2's with an RS rear rim on my LT now and could not be happier.

I saw a thread here back in Sept where Jeff a.k.a. "old guy old bike" posted the following:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
PR2's front and rear on an LT with the stock rims. 110/80ZR-18 on the front and 150/70ZR-17 on the rear. Trust me it works very well. I have just under 7,000 miles with this setup and still going strong.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Please post back if you decide to go down this route and how it worked out. I am also eager to try PR2's front and back with stock rims on the LT.

Cheers,

Sanjiv

Hey Drake,

How are the PR2s on the wet roads? I have been using the lazertecs and they have been great in the rain.

I really can't answer that. I ride like a granny when it's wet out so I'd probably be good on any tire. However, all of the reviews I've read of them say they're great in the wet..

Drake,

I am the same way in the wet, but what is the alternative? I doubt that ANY of us would be sensitive enough to feel when the tires are just on the edge of traction or react correctly at the split second when they go beyond.

Last Saturday (HL) in the cold rain on the Kanc' I thought I felt some side slip in the front end but would I be willing to press it further? Not on public roads.

Avon Azaros were on my LT when I bought it last summer and I was happy with them. The front did start to chop after I put 7000+ miles on it above what the previous owner already had on them. I have stuck with the Azaro rear but switched to the Storm on the front when I could not get an Azaro. After reading some old threads I was a bit worried when I left for the national. Over 5000 miles so far and no issues. I prefer the LT with the Avon tires in the twisties over my Inteceptor any day.

Well I think I am going to try the Metzeler Roadtec Z6 Interact size 110 front and 150 rear. They show they make them now all I have to do is find a place that sells them.

Rich, I had one of those Z6's put on the front a couple of weeks ago before the HL trip to replace the PR2 with a hole in it.
I think it rode as good as the PR2. No grabbing the rain grooves or tar snakes, or concrete seams.

My front tyre (tire) Bridgestone is about shot.
Before I spend loads of gold, are you guys still happy with PR2 front & Azaro rear.
I want to try radials. One bloke here runs Pirelli sport demon front (belted) & Azaro rear (radial) which should be a no no.

You'd think mixing bias ply and radial would be a "no-no" - but look at some of the bikes that came from the factory with bias ply front and radial rear - like the 650.

New guys really need these kinds of notes.

But I'd really like to ask a few things;

#1 If somebody says "this tire is the BEST" , I would like to know,
Best for what? Footpeg scraping? Longhaul touring? Rough roads? Best alla round? Longest wearing?

#2 Most of the "Best tires" seem to have large areas of really smooth tire between the groves. Will they work well if things get wet?

#3 Seems like ALL the models don't have the size that is specified by BMW. All the numbers are larger. (No got 130/90 but will have 150/60 & that's as small as we go.) So I really need the notes that are posted here.

I know it don't make much difference to a Sunday driver/grocery getter/ weekend traveler/commuter, but I'd like to have tires good enuf to take long trips, corner well, etc.

So,
I put something (anything) on just to get state inspection done. And expect to read up to find what's recomended so as to be ready for the next pair. The front had tread, but needed a rear one, so expect that now both will probably run out about the same time. Got a Bridgestone Spitfire II because it seemed to match what was on the front.

I will be interested in seeing how things work with radial tires, something that I have heard about here.

By the way,, THANKS..
