Like the subject says, I need to find a tankbag for my LT. Any brands to look for or stay away from? Not findind much so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BB _________________ 93 K11LT

You can get a generic tank bag. Tons of them out there. Since the tank is aluminum you have to get a strap attached bag, not magnetic.
If you want something made for K bikes, you can get a Multivario (sold by BMW with the little BMW roundel on it.) Note that you need to get the K1100 version as the K75/K100 won't fit on K1100s.
Another option that is custom made for out bikes is the Bagster brand. They're French and you have to order from CIMA International in Aurora, IL. The Bagster is nice because the base is also a complete tank bra.
Both the Multivario(BMW) and the Bagster have a hole right where the gas cap is to make filling up easier. Not sure how that works on generic tank bags.
The Mutlivario has a stiff bottom compartment and also has an additional center section that can be zipped in. The rain cover is separate and snap on. The Bagster has the rain cover built in. The BMW rain cover has clear plastic so you can see the map window. The Bagster rain cover is built in underneath but is solid black so you can't see the map window with the rain cover on.
This is the older style Bagster:

I will probably have some tank bags for sale(definitely a Bagster and maybe a Multivario) in the near future. I need to do some house cleaning.... _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Keep an eye out at ibmwr.org - they show up there every now and then at a reasonable price. There was one on there recently - don't know what it sold for, or if it's still there.

You can also watch Craig's list and ebay. Good luck! _________________ Jim

Thanks for the good advise. Drake, let me know if you have something come up. I'm more inclined to go with the multivario. _________________ 93 K11LT

I tried other types on my RS but have found the Multivario to be far superior. If you unhook the straps at day's end the elastic lasts forever, well at least 12 years. That's how old mine is and there is no sign of failure.
You can unzip the sides almost to the back and tilt the bag vertical giving access to the fuel filler. Then just flop it back down and zip it back up. Just that quick.
I highly recommend the Multivario. It's worth whatever it costs. _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |
