|
|
I'm 6'4", and my arms go on for far longer than they should.
I find myself putting too much weight on my hands on this bike, and especially my left arm, and eventually elbow, start to hurt a wee bit after about 45 minutes in the saddle.
Anyone have any experience with bar risers on this bike? Any good/bad stories on them? Think they might help?
thanks _________________ 1993 K1100RS

Fnord, check out a previous post of mine, read past JO being delusional about having a fork lock, and see the ones I have on my RS for the same reasons you list. I didn't have to change any cables or brake lines.
The ones from A&S look like they add more height and would require a longer brake line.

The difference was not dramatic, but they do help.
I think I saw some on Duck's used parts page for sale a few weeks ago. _________________ Steve

I tried them - didn't last a day. I'm 6-2 with 34/35 inch arms. The issue I had was that when riding turns that they don't let you get your weight forward like it should be.
Try altering your riding position to get hte weight off of your wrists.
a) Keep yours arms and elbows loose.
b) Bend at your hips, nott at your waist.
c) Slightly arch tour lower back and stick your chest out a bit.
(Do a Google search on "Master Yoda's Riding Position" - that's where I learned this stuff.)
It feels a bit awkward at first but it really works. I ride back to back 12+ hour non-stop days on my RS with no issues. With bar backs you're masking a symptom, not solving a problem - poor riding posture. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Well, my bad posture has been just fine on every other bike I've owned. I'll google up some Yoda, though, as I really love this bike.
I'm not a big fan of what the bar backs do to the cockpit, unfortunately. _________________ 1993 K1100RS

the midwest motobrick has c bars... have not ridden it yet so i dont know how they will work... but its definitely more upright...
klinker has c bars... he was saying the bug felt good with stock bars... so he has ridden with both...
im good with stock bars... but i like to experiment... i had some k75 barbacks that had the mounting holes for the crash pad... it made them closer but lower... didnt care for them...
i got rox risers now... very adjustable... but you cant use your crash pad or switches...

I've got some, but not on the bike. Mine are from an R100/? which splay out a little wider, thus not requiring any mods to the dash. They do necessitate a longer brake cable, however.
The position is higher, further back and more comfortable than stock to me. But I think Duck is correct about adjusting riding position - makes a difference.
Here's a good bit of info:
