Hello

I'm new to this board and K bikes in general. I have read the adventures of Shogonai and marveled at her passion for her K bike. I recently purchased a very neglected not running K75s to work on. I was able to get it running, and could not get over how smooth it was. I don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out something is very wrong to have a $900.00 that runs smoother then the 15k bike. Yes, there are some advantages the RT has over the K75s. the RT is gone. Remembering Shoganai's love affair with her K bike I looked for and found a 1995 K1100rs which is in pristine condition with 33k miles. Tomorrow is my test run of about 200 miles, if it works with my back it stays, if not there is a LT in my future. ( in the 90's year models ) I like my GS however it is on the way to new home soon. I do my most of my own wrenching. I have learned a lot from this forum and plan to continue doing so. I will be reading the tech pages for sure.
Thanks for a great forum and new adventure.

Welcome. The K75 is a triple which is why it runs so smoothly. It's a shame BMW didn't keep it and bore it out to a 900. Would've been an ideal K bike IMO. 15 or so more HP, light in K bike terms and still smooth.

Posture hints for making the K11RS work for you (I do lots fo 12+ hour days).

1) Bend at your hips, not at your waist.

2) Arch you lower back and kind of stick your chest out a little.

It's seems awkward at first and takes a little getting used to but it does work.

And welcome to the forum Beemered

Thanks for the heads up. I normally ride in the position you described. I agree on the k75. I'm looking forward to the trip tomorrow.

Glad you jumped in, great group here.
I have NEVER felt so welcomed as by this group.

Hope you don't have the stock seat, but I rode a 94RS a 1,000 miles
before it was totaled with a stock seat. Then I bought another and rode that one about a month before ditching that stock seat.

Have a great ride!

Please share pictures of your bike, well you to if you dare.

Great point by JB - the stock seats on Ks are HORRIBLY PAINFUL. I bought my RS with a stocker on it in Malibu and rode it home up the coast to Seattle. By the time I hit Oregon I felt like I'd spent a decade in prison.

Wanted to put my 2 cents in. Riden lots of KM's over here with a stock seat (don't have miles Very Happy ) Haven't had too much problems, if I found an affordable Corbin would pick it up. When I bought it in 2004 the previous owner had put a different handle bar (maybe from a K75, not sure) have found this very comfortable, you don't sit as far over and the higher sitting position isn't that bad with the wind, added a lip to the stock wind screen. IMHO the RS is miles better looking than the LT Very Happy
