You never have to verify to strangers that you know what sex you are.
While pulling off my helmet at a fuel stop, a stranger fueling his bike says, “You’re a girl?”
You never have to point out someone’s small-minded, sexist, prejudice POV when they ask you, “Aren’t you afraid to travel alone?”
My reply is always, “If I were I man, would you have asked me that?”
I swear to God it’s never crossed the mind of glove makers that a woman’s hand are any different than a man’s (With the outstanding exception of Held Gloves)
You are never faced with having “pink” as the only option for riding gear because you have a dick and I don’t. All because some “man” designing riding gear thinks he knows what women want.
Oh, and male riding gear doesn’t have titty room, so I have to buy at least one size too big to get everything in there.
You have the convenient option of a condom catheter so you don’t have to stop or get out of your gear to pee.
I hate being thought of as a “female rider”. Are you thought of as a “male rider” or just a rider?
Well, I’m just a rider.
End of story, move along, nothing to see here.
“Yes, this is my own bike, what do you think, that I stole it?”
“No, it not to big for me, is your dick too small for you?” |

I'm sensing a little anger here....
I think you have sidled up without much "welcome to the forum" yet here. So welcome, show us your bike! I assure you you've found a place where you will be treated as an equal.

Much anger in you sister.
I think you need a massage.

Sorry, this made me grin quite a bit.
U just venting? Or bitter?
Yeah, it'a all marketing on the size thing and that your built different, since your in such a minority though, cutom leathers is best. Sorry, it sucks, but the manufactures just don't want to build stuff I guess.
Maybe an Aerostitch ? They are pricey, but some of the best protective gear available, and they will build it just for you! And work on it till it's perfect! Nope, don't own one, maybe someday.
I think there are more woman rides than you know, this and other forums should be a good place to meet some others sharing that interest.
I've been all over the US, typically travel alone, been riding for just over 30 years now. People still ask me if I'm afraid to travel alone. Whachagonnado? People are people, for better, or for worse.
Don't let others steal your peace of mind, but you can vent whenever you need to.

Naw, I got out of my system last night.
And it was crafted in part to be taken as funny, (think Sam Kinison delivery, RIP) so I'm glad it made you grin.
No way I'm I bitter, just thought some of you guys would like to "ride in my boots" for a few minutes.
And thanks for the pointers.
Question for Off the Grid, what'cha charge? And can you make it Godiva chocolate ice cream?
Saltcreek, thank you for the welcome and I believe you are right about this place. |

We have a term in our house: "Scott Joplin."
...means "rag time."
Hope your outlook is better next week, sister.
Aw, come on. You didn't expect some kind of MakaSichu worship from a bunch of Motogeezers, didja?
And, ahem, endurance is more important than size anyway.
...or so Mrs. Klinker insists... _________________ tlp

As far as equipment, I agree with the OP.
Jen, our daughter, home from college last week was looking into a new jacket for riding. Most women's MC clothing doesn't come in Tall which she needs. And she DOES NOT want anything pink- she wants BLACK.
In regards to motorcycle riding I think she has more ability than her younger brother- they both started at the same time. She wants to do some track days- he doesn't. She is always asking me questions about riding and helps me with the cars and bikes- he has no interest.
We just consider them both to be RIDERS- no gender designation. _________________ John & Cathy

Brilliant thread.
Prejudice has it's uses as a social filter. I'm NOT surprised that my mid fifties female , glamorous mate can drive as well as she does; anymore than she is surprised that I can cook as well as I do.
Anyone who reacts surprised or negative to this obviously has a set of pre-conditions we don't sub-scribe to. Ditto my queer (US-gay) cousin. If someone has an issue they do not need a place at my dinner table. _________________ Cheers,

My wife used to ride. I recall she dealt with some of the issues MakaSichu mentioned. Only difference was my wife didn't complain. _________________ 2000 R1100RT

Personally doesn't matter to me if your male or female, or a dude who rides side saddle. I do know I've riden with lots of different people over here, male and female. Have found from both groups that there is a bunch who ride better than I do. Anyway welcome and hope you enjoy your stay here with the rest of us "riders". _________________ 1995 K1100RS

I don't think she's complaining as much as generalized venting.

I like outspoken people like yourself
You can vent here anytime.
We all have to put up with prejudice.
In my social group I'm the only one that rides. A lot of friends think it is "too dangerous" and that I should not be riding because I have two small kids. Never mind that my wife thinks its OK and refers to my bike as my therapist.
Others who know me primarily through work or through my hobbies often express surprise. Apparently my personality does not fit their mental image of a biker. A PhD in science is supposed to be a nerdy dweeb, someone who raises Japanese fish cannot possibly ride a bike in their mind.
I've learned to smile and just accept that their horizons are limited. Hope you can too!
Sanjiv

Hi, Sanjiv,
Wagner's Ride of theValkyries is especially good while riding into rally registration or the rally campground.
