Hi everybody,
After going back and fourth with dates, times and locations the reservations were made today. We are booked for a cabin that has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8. We have the cabin for two night Friday May 8th and Saturday May9th, check out Sunday morning by 10 am. We are a horseshoe throw from the horseshoe court as an added bonus. The cabin has 3 showers, sinks and toilets. A microwave, kitchen sink, etc as well. Even though the rates slightly increased this year, the lodging will actually be less expensive then last year, thanks to Jim's discount. We are looking at $25.00 a person. I will mail Jim a check for the full amount today since the cabins are paid in advance. So anyone going can mail me a check when you have time. PM me for details and I can keep track of are head count.
Sorry for any confusion on the location, dates and times. I tried to accomodate everyone, sorry for anyone left out
Best of luck, _________________ Dom |

By the way,
If someone has a riding partner or someone they want to bring they are naturally more then welcome to come! The cabin sleeps 8, if we "confirm" more are coming I can try to get a second cabin. Look forward to seeing everyone again _________________ Dom |

Hi,
As of last night, I'm on "paid administrative leave" and, unless I am recalled, will be laid off between 3/16 and 3/29. So it looks as if I might have the time to ride to Hungry Mother II. Send me a PM with name and address and I'll get my check in the mail. Also, in the PM, please make sure you send me the correct dates. I don't want to wind up, like last year, in the area a week after the event!

That's affirmative! Check in Friday, May 8th at 1500 hours checkout is Sunday May10th at 1000 hours.
The cabin is the "Chestnut" in the opposite end of the park, near the horseshoes pits and basketball court. _________________ Dom |

Hi, Guys,
I just sent Das Boot a PM. I don't want anyone to think HE sent me bad info last year. He didn't! I made the error. I thought the meet was a week later than it actually was. When I discovered my error (I was ready to go to work the last day before vacation when my phone rang and when I answered it I was asked, "Where are you; we're all here!"), it was too late to change the vacation schedule so I rode east anyway, but a week later than the Hungry Mother meet. I had a great ride, but it would have been much better seeing all your smiling faces for the first time.

Hi, All,
I hope to be able to ride to the Hungry Mother II in May. My situation, right now, is in a state of flux, as I think I'll be laid off in 5 or 6 weeks. I may get a reprieve, but I'm not holding my breath.
I still live in El Paso, just across the river from Cd. Juarez, Mexico. Mexico has no prohibition to trade with a certain Caribbean nation famous for its cigars. Should I come in contact with some of these cigars, who would like me to bring him (her) one? Unlike last year, I can't afford to bring them gratis, but if anyone would like one, let me know. The last I remember, they were somewhere around $18 each.

I got curious and looked up the State Park. Too far for me but I did see this caution on their website, probably you already know about it:
Quote: | From after Labor Day through early spring, Hungry Mother Lake will be lowered 10 to 12 feet. This will impact boating, boat rentals, fishing and the lake's appearance. There will also be extensive truck and equipment traffic and noise. The area nearest the cabins and Campground B will be most affected; the area by the dam and spillway will be less so. Cabin 2 will be most affected. If your visit depends on full water activities, we suggest you reschedule for after March 1, 2009. No refunds will be made because of the dredging. |
edit:
I misread it looks like all's well by the time you get there. _________________ Jim
