And will you buy one?
I saw the videos and the thing makes sense.
One of these, and a airbag vest are things that could make a difference in a fall.

Doc,
I was having this discussion with a friend of mine and we were concerned about the logic of a wearable explosive safety device. Airbags in cars detect impact BEFORE your body has experienced significant deceleration. With an airbag on your body, how is this supposed to work?
I've seen the online "marketing" videos but I'm leery of injury due to the airbag detonation. Seems to me we are trading one risk for another.

Whaddaya think?
I hope some testing services like MCN check these products out soon.
The helmet you propose does make sense to me.

Sanjiv,
The airbag vest has a steel cable linked on the motorcycle chassis.
So, when you climb the bike you connect the vest and that cable put inaction the CO2 device.
The action trigger must have to receive such a force to shot that a simple push from a walkaway from the bike don't have the enough force.
Only when the rider is ejected from the bike in an accident the cable put in action the trigger.
The primary aim of the airbag vest is to immobilize the cervical spine and do not permit excessive flexion or extension, previning medular damage.

I have some friends that are using these vests, but none of that have used it....yet!
Here in BRazil they cost about U$500,00.

Hi Doc,
I know how they work.
I'm just concerned if there are unintended injuries associated with operation of the device. As an example first generation car airbags had a lot of injuries particularly to smaller passengers. Subsequently the force of airbag deployment was reduced. Cars sold in the USA after model year 2005 are legislated to have automatic passenger weight detection that deactivates the front passenger side airbag if the passenger is below a certain weight (example a small child).
This vest is an exciting technology. I'm just a bit wary that all the bugs are not ironed out yet and certainly the amount of testing is not enough to get me to buy one yet.
Since you are a (medical?) doctor I was interested in your thoughts. Thanks for the comments.

Perhaps a more protective outfit is in order.
