I really enjoyed the combination of running heated grips while wearing Gerbing heated gloves. This overcame my chronic problem with my thumbs being cold. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Well, on high the heated grips could actually burn your hands if you have no gloves on, and the back of your hands would freeze. What i find with the gloves is that the heat transfers through the leather of the glove and keeps the whole hand warm not just the palm.
But really you should always wear gloves anyway. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

John...I think he was talking about heated grips AND heated gloves rather than JUST heated grips.
And yes, if you get the right gloves you don't NEED heated gloves. They are nice though.

That be correct.
I have a pair of Olympia medium-weight gore-text gloves that I bought because they were the cheapest ones in the shop and I needed something to wear home when I unexpectedly bought the bike on the spot.
I freaking *love* these gloves. After 2 hours of brutal downpour, my hands were still bone-dry. After an hour of 27-degrees on the slab, my hands were still toasty warm.
My Synergy jacket arrives on Friday _________________ 1993 K1100RS

Just wanted to thank everyone for the valuable feedback and give an update:
I've done the following to get ready for winter:
- Parabellum wind shield
- Tourmaster jacket liner & gloves
- Olympia Phantom One Piece Suit
I really love the suit, heated jacket and windshield. I can't possibly imagine when I would ever need the liner the suit comes with, or when I would need to set the jacket liner to anything higher than the lowest setting.
I only had the gloves for a week or so, but they definitely are an improvement over what I had before, though I am considering using a separate controller for them so I can run them independently of the jacket liner!
I will post some photos soon...

I have been able to secure a used Aeroflow windshield from Craigslist, and purchased the Tourmaster Heated Jacket Liner and Gloves.
Hopefully, that combination, along with thermal pants and extreme winter hiking socks will keep me going. If my legs turn to ice, I will go for the Tourmaster Heated Chaps too, but hopefully I won't need the hand guards and the heated grips.
