This is the only time where the correct answer is YES.
My newly installed RS rear on the LT on my recent little jaunt:
(It's much easier to mount the wheel on the bike if you have an aftermarket exhaust so you can just take the can off and not the whole friggin' exhaust. WTF was BMW thinking when they decided to weld the headers to the exhaust can? And look at how well it's worked out with all of the cracked welds.... ) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hey Duck,
I unbolt the rear brake caliper and move it out of the way. No need to mess with the pipe. _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |

That doesn't work for me on the RS or the LT with the wider rear wheel/tire. Pulling the Staintune is pretty easy though. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Are you using a wider than stock tire on your RS? I simply take off the rear caliper, remove the rear fender extension, and the wheel is free. I've never had to mess with the exhaust to drop the wheel on mine. _________________ '93 K1100RS

At least for me it's easiest just to undo the two bolts that hold the Staintune on. Makes doing the lug nuts much easier as well without the exhaust can in the way. And I don't have to worry about gapping the ABS sensor either. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
