On 8/21 I went for a ride. Steve rode me to the hospital.

Art work by Steverino

Before: Damage under kneecap

After: fixed

Before: Meniscus tear

After: fixed

Partial ACL tear, ok

Me smiling for the scope...

Emotioncons by Gwen...

Per-op

Waking up post op and pre Dilaudid.

Post Dilaudid and an hour later.

O.T.D.D!

Going home Embarassed
The spinal failed and I had to be put under, but I didn't wake up vomiting for the first time ever.

However, the spinal was working well enough, that when I got out of the car at home, Steve said, "Why are your pants wet?" Embarassed Shocked

Slept w/ no pain for the first time since Feb.
I could walk w/o crutches w/i 1/2 day.

If anybody read in my Ride Report about having to pull over due to abdominal pain, this was the cause. I had been bleeding since May and my Hgb had got down to 7.3. As of pre-op labs it was 8.6, still lower than my normal 13.1.

So on 9/3 they removed a fibroid the size of an owstrich egg along with the uterus. Both overies were in good shape so they got to come home with me.

I came home 30 hours post-op, the usual stay is 3 full days. Pre-op at 10:00, home by 1600 the next day.

I have a real high tolerance for pain. There was no way I was going to stay there 3 days.

So now I can't work for 4-6 weeks or ride for that matter Crying or Very sad

But's it's all good and getting better.

I wish a fast recovery to you, Shoganai!
But a more upright riding position in the future maybe be better for your knees, won't?
More like a R1200C....
Cool
Guilherme.

Thanks but the knee was injured when I crashed in AZ. Now that it's repaired the MD said I should be pain free for many years to come.

Another K1100RS is in my sights as we speak. Very Happy

The SW is tired. 170,000+ hard miles, a few drops, and one hard biff has taken it's toll on her. She burning a qt. of oil every 1000 miles or less.

My plan is to buy another K1100RS, transfer all the SW farkles so I'll have a bike to ride. Then drag the SW into the basement and tear her completely apart.

I may part her out but more than likely I'll rebuild her.

It's not about the money for me.

I just love fixing things, and there is nothing that makes me much happier than wrenching on my bike.

Number 2 after sex in fact. Cool Very Happy

Today felt good enough I decided to make Cappuccino carmel chocolate cheesecake with shortbread cookie crust .

This is one of my all time favorite cheesecakes.

I started last night by boiling a can of Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk for 4 hours then just turned it off and left it to cool over night.

A word of EXTREME CAUTION

Are you listening?

OK.

Do NOT open the cans of milk until they have,
1. chilled in an ice bath for :30 min.
2. chilled in the fridge for 3-5 hours
3. Or what I did above.

You will be severely burned if you fail to follow these rules.

The result is carmel.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

I set the butter and cream cheese on the counter before going to bed last night to soften.

Next gather the following:
1 c. flour
1/4 suger
1/2 tsp vanilla ext.
1 stick of very soft butter

Use a fork and cream together well.

Place in center of spring form bottom and using a little flour on your hand, pat out evenly. I use a plastic fork to prevent damage to my stick-free cake form.

Bake for 25 minutes.

Trim off the excess and allow to cool in the fridge for 20 minutes.
This because if you try to spread the carmel on the warm cookie, it will break it up.

(you can bake it in the ring or not)

Butter spring form ring and flour lightly.

When cookie is cool, spread about 3/4 of the can of carmel on it. Lock into spring form ring.

Next gather the following:

4 pks of cream cheese
1 c. suger
2 Tbs flour
1 tsp Vanilla ext.
3 Tbs Kahlua
1 Tbs instant coffee
4 eggs

Blend the first three well w/o whipping in any air.
Then add the next three.
Then add eggs one at a time.

Pour in pan and bake for 50 minutes.

Note: While preheating, place 9x13 pan 1/2 filled w/ water on bottom rack.
Cheesecakes bake best in a moist oven.

50 min. are up.

At this point turn off the oven, crack open the door and allow to cool slowly for 2 hours.

Next remove ring and place in fridge to cool for 1-3 hours.

Gather some semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate and whole plain almonds.

You'll be melting all of the chocolates later.

I messed up.
I've been using a microwave to melt chocolate for years w/o any problems. It seems our very new microwave is MUCH hotter than any I've used. So, I ruined a batch each of the white and dark before I figured out what was happening.

So Steve suggested the old stand by double boiler. I don't have one, so I managed to put something together that did the job.

Before adding chocolated dipped almonds, I drizzeled on some white chocolate and garnished with some finely chopped macadamia nuts.

[/QUOTE]

The plated the cheesecake.

I love to cook. Very Happy
