I love bald eagles. Rode my LT up to the cabin over the weekend and took a few eagle shots. My new Canon digital point and shoot has a 4x optical zoom so I was finally able to get some decent eagle shots.
Hey, you!
Yeah, you on the beach.
That's right, I'm talking to you.
Take off and fly around so I can get some pictures of you in flight.
Hey, not so blurry next time, OK?
That's better. Now swoop around and come right towards me.
Now come right across in front of me.
Now take off from that tree.
And fly right across in front of me for a close-up.
Now let's get some portrait shots. First the left side.
Now lets get the right side.
Look straight ahead.
Now look down.
Now let's get a good ass shot.
Now tell all of your friends what a great photographer I am.
Still need some work with the new digital camera. Next time I'll experiment with the manual mode settings. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Man Drake, you are like the friggin eagle whisperer!
He did everything you suggested, that was amazing!
On an unrelated note, I find Bald Eagles fascinating as well.
Nice shots. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Nice pics Drake, we haven't got anything like that over here. All our eagles (that is both our eagles..) are hairy, probably an evolution thing, cold weather an' all... _________________ Cheers, Steve H _______________________________________

Had to spend a WHOLE year at King Salmon Alaska when I was still active. Lots of Eagles there, was one of those things you only dream about, they were everywhere like crows. _________________ 1995 K1100RS

This probably belongs in the dungeon, but when I saw this title of this thread, it reminds me of the man and woman who after their first date decide to walk on the beach together. After a short time the guy runs up to a seagull, grabs it, squats on it and proceeds to have intercourse with the bird.
The woman runs up to him, horrified and shouts "when you said you mounted birds, I thought you were a taxidermist"!
Sorry for the interruption............... _________________ John & Cathy

Tha eagle is beautiful!
Here in Brazil we have the biggest eagle of the world (told by National Geographic), the Harpia. I'm sure you must love to photograph it!
The Harpia is also know as the "Monkey-Catch" Eagle, because big monkeys is your favorite lauch!
They are extremely agressive and sometimes take small dogs and deers.

Raptors taking primates.
Ah, well. We primates get our fair share of birds.

Yeah, I know. It fell right in between my two long tours to the Netherlands (Holland) and a year in Thailand. You just go wherever defending America's freedom takes you _________________ 1995 K1100RS

You and Mrs. Bug should come up to the cabin in August. No guarantees on the eagles but I can teach you how to cook fresh seafood.
Like Dungeness crab:
We got lots of 'em:
I can teach youhow to shuck fresh oysters:
If you don't like 'em raw, I'll show you how to fry 'em up:

I already invited you. Several times.
We've got fresh clams on the beach too. Just didn't partake last weekend.
If you guys have a few days, we could do the following:
Ride down to Tacoma and ride up 101 along Hood Canal to the cabin. Stopping along the way some ofthe best clam chowder in the state.
Stay at the cabin one night.
The next day, while my crab traps are filling with little beasties, take a ride out to Neah Bay - one of, if not THE, best riding roads in the state.
Road to Neah Bay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDfmND6Plfs
Then head up to Hurricane Ridge on the way back for a nice view:
(It's a panorama shot so I linked it.)

Then we go to the cabin and eat crab, ms and oysters.
The next day take the ferry home to Seattle:
