yep - it'll haul you both. Won't be as quick as the K11, but it'll do if the price is right. The 75's are sweet bikes - wish I still had mine. Unlike some people, I can only ride one....

Johnny,

If you can't score a K1100 a K 75 will haul you both just fine. It'll feel about like your RS but won't have all the beans when you widen on the throttle.

Hi, Johnny,
I prefer a '94 or '95 K75 because of the 700 watt alternator, but the earlier ones with the 460 watt are fine; just you can't hook up all the electrics you can with the later bikes. Also, the front suspension changed in '92. Prior was, I believe, Marzocchi and later was Showa. The '95 came from the factory with the electric windshield; it can be added to the earlier bikes if you want it.

The bike in the picture doesn't look bad. If the ABS works and if the maintenance is up-to-date, $3k is reasonable, although I'd try for a bit lower. It all depends on the bike itself - if it's been down, if maintenance has been done, etc. BTW, I have 2 sets of valve adjusting tools (NOT OEM BMW, but they work well). I only need one set for my K75 bikes.

Good Luck! The K75, while not as fast nor as quick as the K1100, can get you a ticket in any state. Also, it runs fine on regular unleaded. It is the smoothest engine BMW ever put in a motorcycle. It does NOT get the fuel mileage of the K1100. I regularly got in the mid to high 40's with my K1100LT's. The K75 and K75RT, on a trip, average in the low 40's. Riding East on the K75A/3 a few weeks ago, I got 36 through West Texas at a bit over the 80mph speed limit. I didn't get in the 40's until I was well into Arkansas. YMMV!

Ride Safe,

FWIW, I get 40-44mpg on my 96 K1100LT, usually closer to 44. It's very rare I get over 44mpg. Generally only when a large part of that tank involves descending 6000 feet or so.

Now that the US has woken up to the gas prices that we have been paying in Europe for many years, the issue of mpg is becoming critical.

I did some simple experiments a couple of months back, riding the same stretch of highway at 60mph with the K11 screen fully raised (barn-door) and fully lowered (smooooth).
There was a 4.5 mpg difference, and as speeds increase, that difference will be magnified.
That represents a minimum 10% fuel saving by lowering the screen when not absolutely required.

I fitted a +5" screen, and I now ride all day at the lowest setting - I calculate that in 7,500 miles the screen will have paid for itself Cool

^^ Excellent point.

With the stock screen I used to ride with it 3/4 to full upright.

Not with my 3" Cee Bailey I ride with it at the lowest setting.

I think folks minimize the effect that aerodynamics has on MPG.

Johnny, not sure how 'close' to w-loo you would like to be, or how much $ your overburdened with, but here's one I found this morning for a '95 1100RS.
