Fast? Relatively speaking, no, it's a big heavy pig. Is it fun to ride? Absolutely!! Don't get me wrong, it gets out of it's own way and then some but compared to my RC51, well...........and it's slow compared to what's available now! _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |

Compared to a sport bike my K1100lt is not a fast bike.
I wouldn't exactly call it a big heavy pig though.
It is only about 30lbs heavier than a FJR1300 and is actually lighter than a Honda ST1300.
The k1100lt does not carry it's weight well and feels heavy.
My K will still keep up with the best.
Still a pretty good bike for being 13 years old. _________________ You only live once

I went straight from a K1100LT to a K1100RS (I wasn't happy with the condition of the LT, so took it back).. Believe me, the RS is a big enough step up, and if you do the crazy revs thing, you run out of road pretty quick. _________________ 1992 K1100RS - Red and gold. |

I "upgraded" from K75RT (a VERY fine motorcycle) to K1100RS, so I know what you're saying! If you ride her like you stole her the K11RS can be an absolute thrill ride |

I too "upgraded" (you can't beat the smoothness of the K75) from a K75RT to a K1100LT. When I rolled the throttle on during my test ride there was a huge smile on my face and I was thinking "I wish I'd known this before."
In my recent expience with the Avon radials I found that the LT rides MUCH better with radilals and is much more confidence inspiring. In SF, when the Avons were eating up the front tread blocks (qiuality issue) I switched back to Mac 50s. Compared to the Avons, the Mac 50s made the bike wallow at high speed. I had the advantage of hainvg just ridden form Seattle to SF on radials and then going right to the Mac 50s for another 800 mile day so it was easy to tell how much difference there was.
In talking with lrome in LA, I found that he's been running some Dunlop radials with the fatter RS rear wheel. (The difference in diameter/circumference between RS and LT rears is about 1%.)
So, I"m in the process of putting some BT020 radials with an RS rear on my LT - should be a great performance improvement.
Somebody over at BM Bikes (or was it here?) indicated that the aspect ratio of the LT front isn't suited for radials. If that's the case then why do several companies(Dunlop, Bridgestone and Avon - probably more) make them in that size? _________________ 93 LT (x2)
